Distinction between leagues[edit]

Hi, I saw that you [User:Flibirigit] quickly reverted my changes to Template:European Ice Hockey Leagues, but I don't understand why. I was trying to distinguish among "good" and "not-so-good" leagues. I was using the IIHF rankings, specifically the leagues that can send teams directly to the CHL. I agree that the labels weren't great, but I didn't want to invent a "Tier I, II and III." I was trying to mimic Template:Professional_Hockey and Template:National cricket teams. If you don't mind, I want to reimplement the changes, perhaps changing the labels to "High," "Mid" and "Low" with links to the IIHF rankings. FJM (talk) 08:26, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The navigational box was designed to help the read go between the National leagues themselves. That consensus was reached at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey. The "Professional Hockey" template is static. Each league has defined niche in the hierarchy. Separating the leagues on this template by "ranking" would better suited for the Champions Hockey League itself, as rankings are subject to change. However, consensus does change over time, I would suggest you take it back to the Ice Hockey project. Flibirigit (talk) 16:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks somewhat confusing to see a mix of past and current, national and international leagues. I do not think that the former Russian [Super League] should be placed here. And it would be much more clear to see international leagues separated from national (Continental Hockey League, for instance). Svmich (talk) 14:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
