Best Image[edit]

I changed the image....the symbol of the papacy is the coat of arms of the vatican, which has both the tiara and the keys of Saint Peter.<<Coburn_Pharr>> 03:30, 24 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Citation for earlier popes[edit]

Is there any citation that any of the earlier popes used the style "His Holiness," etc. I don't think that this infobox should be used for popes earlier than the styles can be identified for. -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 03:09, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

indeed. This infobox should not be used unless specific references are cited for the styles given. dab (𒁳) 12:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
18 months later, this box is still on early Popes (I found it on St. Agatho, who was linked to on the front page today), yet no one has spoken up to defend it. I think we should start taking them off, unless someone ahs a good reason not to... --Jfruh (talk) 16:17, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From 666 bites to 1400 bites in one day[edit]

Sorry, but this well intended improvement messes up the top of the pages, by creating huge empty spaces. Let`s be reasonalbe, folks! And, the dark purple color may be appropriate for Lenten season but not for Popes! --Ambrosius007 (talk) 21:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the mess up but anyway I fixed the colour back to its old colour and it isn't this templates fault that the spaces appear it is actually the Infobox Pope. The Quill (talk) 08:00, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks much nicer, but we did not have this space before May 28. I am sure, may be you can help to find a solution and thank you for your support and contributions. I will benefit most from nice papal boxes, , as in the next few weeks I will work on all Popes starting with Pius VI (1775) We'll be in contact Cheers --Ambrosius007 (talk) 08:30, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image not working[edit]

The image in the infobox is appearing on the template page, but it is not appearing in the infobox when it is used in articles. (for instance Pope Clement I, Pope Paul V. Dgf32 (talk) 20:59, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Attention needed: The image in the infobox is appearing on the template page, but it is not appearing in the infobox when it is used in articles. Dgf32 (talk) 21:00, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to be due to an extra | at the end of the template in some articles. I'll see if I can fix the template, but the articles should really be fixed. twilsonb (talk) 06:59, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is now fixed - when no image is specified, or an empty argument is specified, the default crest is shown. If a specific image is specified in the infobox, that image will be shown. If there are any further pages where the image does not appear, they have bad infobox calls and should be fixed manually. twilsonb (talk) 07:07, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anachronistic use of this template[edit]

The majority of popes were in office before the "keys of Peter" became the emblem of the Holy See. Can this template please not show the image by default? --dab (𒁳) 13:56, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

– Per MOS:JOBTITLES, we shouldn't be capitalising "pope", "cardinal" etc. In contrary to a previous move discussion, there doesn't seem to be any consistency among related infoboxes on this matter to be followed at all, just an MOS guideline that isn't being followed. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 08:45, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
