I note that for Ubuntu the MATE desktop is only available as an outside source PPA and not in the distro's repositories. Given that, should it really be listed here in the nav box? - Ahunt (talk) 19:52, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- MATE developers provide the MATE repos for Ubuntu. They spend a lot of time testing MATE on an operating system before releasing it. If bugs are reported they will be fixed by the developers quickly. I don't think it matters where the repos are as long as they are stable.--Freebiekr (talk) 23:39, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- Well my point is that while it can be installed from external sources it is not part of Ubuntu itself, because it isn't in the Ubuntu repos. It seems to me that if you are going to list distros that it can possibly be installed on from any source, rather than distros that officially provide it, then this will include most Linux distros. - Ahunt (talk) 01:27, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
