Polish MTBs[edit]

While I don't have proper sources in front of me (mostly navypedia and the Google translate version of Polish Wikipedia), the details of Poland's World War II motor torpedo boats and similar vessels seems pretty messy. I'll try to lay out the details in a readable fashion, as I currently understand them (I may be wrong, of course):
Note: Polish Wikipedia lists these craft only by S-# designators, while Navypedia lists them as S# and includes names for some of them.

  • S1 motor torpedo boats: ORP S-1 "Chart"
    • Two torpedo boats ordered by Poland in January 1939 from the United Kingdom, which were subsequently requisitioned by the Royal Navy when the war began and were completed as MGB47 and MGB48. However, MGB47 (later designated MA/SB47) was later transferred to the Polish Navy as ORP S1.
  • S2 motor anti-submarine boats: ORP S-2 "Wilczur" & ORP S-3 "Wyzel"
    • Two submarine chasers built on motor torpedo boat hulls, ordered by Sweden and Norway from the UK and requisitioned by the Royal Navy and completed as motor gun boats; both were later transferred to the Polish Navy. MGB44 (also called MA/SB44) became ORP S2 and MGB45 (also called MA/SB45) became ORP S3.
  • S4 motor torpedo boat: ORP S-4
    • Originally a Royal Navy motor gun boat, it was transferred to the Polish Navy in 1943; MGB113 became ORP S4. It was returned to the Royal Navy in 1944, becoming MTB437 along the way.
  • S5 motor torpedo boats: ORP S-5, ORP S-6, ORP S-7, ORP S-8, ORP S-9, & ORP S-10
    • Originally Royal Navy motor torpedo boats, they were transferred to the Polish Navy in either 1943 (while still incomplete) or in early 1944 (completed). They were returned to the Royal Navy in late 1944 into 1945. MTB424 (S-5), MTB425 (S-6), MTB426 (S-7), MTB427 (S-8), MTB428 (S-9), & MTB429 (S-10).

So, how to add all of these things in a simple or reasonable fashion? If we choose to add them at all, since Wikipedia currently has no real articles for them (that I found so far, anyways). Currently, the only indication related to Polish motor torpedo boats is the placement of a generic link to our article on MTBs, which is admittedly similar to the current situation on the British WWII warships template. So! Anyone have any ideas or recommendations to put forward? I'd love to hear them. Auguststorm1945 (talk) 19:36, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
