New version of template[edit]

There is an updated template at Template:WikiProject Central America/sandbox which uses WPBannerMeta. Any objections to using it? -- WOSlinker (talk) 18:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Need to update redirects[edit]

{{edit protected}} Please see the sandbox for a version with the child WPs updated, the nested parameters and needs-infobox added to the template, to match the other WP templates, like for El Salvador and Costa Rica. Please update to the sandbox version. John Carter had updated the TFs to WPs way back in Feb. 2008. Thanks --Funandtrvl (talk) 21:44, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Edit request in the sandbox[edit]

Using User:Frietjes's invalid parameter module I updated the code for this template in the sandbox here. Could someone implement please. Catnip the Elder (talk) 14:21, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Removing subprojects as task force[edit]

Currently there are 7 country-specific "task forces" that are part of this template. All of them are actually full-fledged WikiProjects (rather than task forces) with their own top-level project pages, and some of them have their own templates: {{WikiProject Costa Rica}}, {{WikiProject El Salvador}}, {{WikiProject Belize}}. In most cases, it makes more sense to use a country-specific template than this one. For example, Queen Elizabeth II has no relevance to Central America other than being the head of state of Belize. Also, it's non-standard to use WikiProjects as task forces. I know there are some other examples of this, but typically every WikiProject uses it's own template, even when there is a hierarchy (as recommended by the WikiProject guidelines). Would anyone object to me creating templates for the remaining projects (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama) and removing them from this template? Kaldari (talk) 21:11, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

I've created banner templates for the remaining WikiProjects. The next step will be officially deprecate the use of the task force parameters and then have a bot migrate the existing uses of {{WikiProject Central America}} to the country specific templates where appropriate. Kaldari (talk) 02:49, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
No objections, in many cases articles for a particular country have very little relevance to Central America as a whole. Simon Burchell (talk) 16:18, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
Done Any pages that included more than 2 task forces were left with the {{WikiProject Central America}} banner, while any pages with only 1 or 2 task forces were converted to the more specific banners. Kaldari (talk) 17:43, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
