WikiProject Pakistani cities[edit]

Guys, can you add a place in this template for WikiProject Pakistani Cities? We really need to have a place for that workgroup as we can then categorise all Pakistani cities under the authorisation of this task force. Have a look at this page for example: Talk:Mumbai...in the WP India template, it lists in sub-headlines of who else mantains the article i.e this article maintained by the Indian cities workgroup and so on....I want a similar one for the Pakistani cities workgroup too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teckgeek (talkcontribs) 10:37, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Nesting condition[edit]

Resolved: The situation had been addressed but the discussion was dead by then. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 01:22, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

This template appears in many pages with multiple WikiProjects. Can any editor edit the template to implement the "nesting=yes" parameter so that it can be used in the composite template. — Ambuj Saxena () 10:37, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Can you give some examples/links? Szhaider 15:21, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

This is the only way for the collaborative effort of WP Pakistan and WP India to create WP Punjab can help. On User talk:Nobleeagle, Nichalp has explained this to me. If WP Pakistan does not want to comply then I might as well stuff the idea of WP Punjab and instead create WP Punjab (India) only. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 06:12, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Frankly, I couldn't really get your point. I say you can put a separate banner for WikiProject Punjab (which covers Punjab region divided among two countries) on Punjab related Pakistani articles. Szhaider 07:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, it seems a bit of misunderstanding and bad blood has created an issue when there really wasn't one. The fact is that Punjab split into seperate entities in 1947. So for post-1947 articles, the {{WP India}} template just says that "This article is supported by the Punjab workgroup" while for pages pre-1947 {{WP Punjab}} is used. {{WP Pakistan}} doesn't support that option through your reverts, so you are saying that {{WP Punjab}} will have to be used on post-1947 Pakistan-related articles. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 07:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Only if you want to use {{WP Punjab}}. Right now, I am not as much interested in a child project when parent project is anything but complete. In my opinion, {{WP Punjab (Pakistan)}} (which apparntly needs to be created) could be more appropriate with that Punjab Task-force addition in it. I want to put all of my focus on repairing and completeing WikiProject Pakistan pages (not the articles which it covers). After that, I will discuss (if not banned) with other members of the project about proposals of expansion of the project. I have rejected some proposals from Pakistani editors because I thought they were not practical right now. Thanks to them, those editors understood my point and actually helped me. B - class criteria[edit]

How about adding B - class criteria list in the template, like many other projects? It will certainly lead newbies that what an article is lacking. --SMS Talk 09:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Already done. Check for updates. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 01:23, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

template is broken somehow[edit]

  • Not sure I agree with protecting this template; was it the subject of vandalism?
  • At any rate, there is something wrong with its syntax. Look at my three most recent edits to Talk:Roma people. This template breaks the {{WPBS}} template when it is nested within. It only displays correctly if this template is the last WikiProject template in the list. Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 09:54, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
I seem to have found a solution. Please replace the page with the contents of {{WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox}}. —Ms2ger (talk) 10:30, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes check.svg Done. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 02:26, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

New implementation of nested banners[edit]

{{editprotected}} Please replace the page with the contents of {{WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox}}, per Template talk:WikiProjectBannerShell#New_implementation_of_WikiProject_banners. Thanks. —Ms2ger (talk) 15:47, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I also made a small change to make sure no row is created for the collapsible table if there's nothing to put there. —Ms2ger (talk) 20:09, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I've put a new version of this template in the /sandbox using the meta-template {{WPBM}}. Are they any comments about using it? Are there any other features which should be incorporated? One thing I'm not sure about is the B-class checklist, because the current one use a non-standard one. Would there be any problem about using the standard 6-point checklist (see WP:BCLASS)? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:03, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Done. I've implemented the standard 6-point checklist. However this will have the effect of demoting most of the B-class articles to C-class. Please let me know if you want this changed. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:41, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

More than one taskforce[edit]

It seems that only one taskforce can be added per article. That is very inflexible. See Talk:October 2009 Lahore attacks. __meco (talk) 18:28, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is a weakness of this template. Perhaps we could move to using |history=yes and |music=yes rather than the current |H|M ? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:18, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Edit Locked/Unlock[edit]

Can someone please unlock this article? It keeps displaying C quality for every article. Its irritating and misleading. NarSakSasLee (talk) 19:37, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

The template is currently using a B-class checklist (check the documentation) so articles need to be assessed to be classified as B-class. This can be removed if the WikiProject does not want it. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:40, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Even with the B class criterea filled out it still displays C grade. Please remove the criteria, its incredibly irritating. NarSakSasLee (talk) 03:07, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Agreed, most other WikiProjects don't have a B-criteria checklist anyway, and articles are rated C only if specified. This template should follow the same procedure. Besides, there are some articles which are B-class yet they are listed as C because someone hasn't bothered to fill the checklist. This parameter is inaccurate Mar4d (talk) 02:23, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} Please add the following: |MAIN_CAT = WikiProject Pakistan articles
under the script: |PORTAL = Pakistan
so as to categorise all articles into Category:WikiProject Pakistan articles. Thanks! Mar4d (talk) 12:25, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

☑Y Done. Please note that it will take a while for Category:WikiProject Pakistan articles to automatically be fully populated due to the cache of the Wikipedia servers. Cheers. Zzyzx11 (talk) 17:00, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

New request[edit]

I have added some projects at Template:WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox which were deemed inactive because they have not been added to this template. Some of them seem to have existed in mainspace for almost 2 years. I plan to make them active by starting their tagging. It is a request if you could please add the changes I have made on Template:WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox and paste them here as a start. Thanks! Mar4d (talk) 11:40, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

It's probably not a good idea to use quality and importance ratings, because none of the categories exist. (And probably not worth the effort to create them all if the projects are not even active.) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:47, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I have noted your suggestion and have removed the quality and importance parameters for now. This leaves us with only the main_cat categories now. Thanks for the feedback; cheers! Mar4d (talk) 12:39, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Okay that looks fine. Another question: have you seen Template:WikiProject Pakistan/taskforce which allows editors to input {{WikiProject Pakistan|S}} to obtain a note about sports of Pakistan, i.e.

Your version seems to overwrite this functionality. I am wondering if this is intentional or not? By the way, have you discussed any of these changes with the Pakistan WikiProject? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:02, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Replied on your talk page; Mar4d (talk) 15:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Why? I think it's best to keep the discussion in one place ... Copying your response below. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:44, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry; I thought that way I would attract a quicker response though since it's obvious that you've got this page under your watch, I will post any future interactions here. Cheers. Mar4d (talk) 15:48, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I cannot remember why, but I have had this watchlisted for a long time! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Apparently, yes, I overwrote that bit intentionally. I think those parameters are unneccessary and not of much use anymore - they're hardly used by anyone (as their categories reveal) and don't serve any specific purpose. Besides, I haven't seen any other country project templates which employ the use of similiar notes. There are actually independent task forces for Pakistani politics, history, sport in case you haven't seen (abandoned obviously) which deserve to potentially replace those codes, but I am not really focusing on those projects at the moment and they may as well just remain closed in a dusty bookshelf for the time being. My concentration for now is based on the abandoned regional task forces. If it is possible, I would prefer you overwrite those codes because they are pretty much useless. Mar4d (talk) 15:06, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Okay, all done. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! :) Mar4d (talk) 04:18, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} Some minor changes have been made at Template:WP Pakistan/Sandbox, including additional parameters as well as change of icons. It is requested if the changes could be transported from the sandbox page to this template. Thanks, Mar4d (talk) 03:28, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Done. --Closedmouth (talk) 05:55, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Instructions missing[edit]

The instructions don't inform what parameters to use for adding an article to the various sub-projects. Also, the X parm doesn't seem to be working, see Talk:Mangla __meco (talk) 14:03, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

This functionality was removed last year (see #New request above) but apparently the documentation wasn't updated. I will ask Mar4d (talk · contribs) if he/she can do it. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:53, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
I have added the instructions for adding article to a sub-project. Also updated the categories for the X variable (previous categories were deleted) but if consensus is not to add the X parameter back, instructions for that can be removed. --SMS Talk 20:33, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
I have given my comments regarding this here. Thanks, Mar4d (talk) 05:41, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Antemister You should place {{edit template-protected}} at the top of this request so an admin/template editor can look at this request. -- SMS Talk 17:24, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
I usually edit only the german WP and do know few about such procedures here.--Antemister (talk) 17:41, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

New parameters[edit]

Please transport the new changes (line 136/7 [1]) made at Template:WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox to the main template.  samee  converse  16:18, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Not done for now: It appears that you have made changes to a version of the sandbox from four years ago, one that has not been kept up to date with the live template. This means that recent changes to the live template will be undone if the sandbox is copied live; so please copy the live template to the sandbox, then make your changes there. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:14, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
