Textile schools in Bangladesh

Textile schools in Bangladesh offer degrees in textile fields, including a number called textile universities that specialize in textile education. Textile courses offered include spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing, garments and fashion design. Textile is the single largest export item of Bangladesh.[1] Bangladesh exported 28.12 billion USD worth of garments in the first 11 months of the 2017-2018 fiscal year.[2]

Public-Private Partnership[edit]

  • National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) is a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka offers bachelor's and master's degree. It is run by Ministry of Textile and Jute, GoB & BTMA. Now NITER is the largest textile educational institution and also the second best of its kind in Bangladesh. Formerly NITER was a public institute named TIDC.

It is the first and only public–private partnership (PPP) education institute in Bangladesh. Currently NITER offers three basic 4 years long bachelor's degree. These are Textile Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering and another is Fashion & Apparel Design. Masters course will be introduced by June 2018.

Textile Vocational Institutes[edit]

At present there are total 41 textile vocational institutes throughout Bangladesh under Department of Textiles of Ministry of Textile and Jute, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.Government is planning to set up 12 more textile vocational institutes in coming years.
