The Maiden Heist is a comedy film directed by Peter Hewitt and starring Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy, and Marcia Gay Harden.[1]
Plot
Three museum security guards, Roger, Charles and George, devise a plan to steal back the art they've grown attached to, after the new curator plans to have the art transferred to another museum in Denmark in favor of Scandinavian modernist sculptures. Roger has a wife, Rose, who is saving money for a trip to Florida on the same day as the planned heist. The three guards must overcome their criminal ineptitude to get away with their prized works of art. [2]
Release
It had a tentative release date of May 29, 2009 before being shelved following the bankruptcy of its distributor, Yari Film Group. It debuted at the Edinburgh International Film Festival June 25, 2009[3] and was released to DVD on November 24, 2009.
Production
It was produced under the working title The Lonely Maiden. It was shot primarily in Boston, MA, and several scenes were filmed at the Worcester Art Museum, in Worcester, Massachusetts.[4]
