"The Young & the Hopeless" is the fourth single from Good Charlotte's second studio album The Young and the Hopeless. The Young & the Hopeless is also the title track for the album the song featured in.

Benji Madden sings the second verse in the song. As of 2007, this is one of 2 songs the band has released where Benji sings lead instead of back-up, the other being 'The Day That I Die'.

Music video[edit]

This is the first music video that Benji & Joel Madden had a hand in directing. It features the band in a trophy room. As they perform the song, they wreck the room and the awards in it. The video premiered in April 2003 on MTV.
