Tiwa or Lalung, is a Tibeto-Burman or Sino-Tibetan language of Assam in North East India.

Geographical distribution

Like most languages of the hill tribes of the northeast, hill Tiwa does not have its own script and is written in the Roman (Latin) alphabet, occasionally in English and Assamese script. Tiwa is spoken in the following districts (Ethnologue).

Assam
- East and West Karbi Anglong district
- Nagaon district (Nambor)
- Morigaon district
- Kamrup district

Meghalaya
- Khasi Hills district (Ri-Bhoi district)
