Top Shelf Coffee,Inc. is a US privately owned and operated coffee company. Top Shelf Coffee was founded in 1994 as Top Shelf Coffee and Foods. The company was a medium scale business, operating mostly within Ohio; serving local factories, restaurants and coffee shops both small and large.[1] The company's main supplier of coffee beans is Cafe Lobo.[2] In April, 2009, Top Shelf Coffee signed a licensing agreement with the National Basketball Association, giving them the rights to manufacture NBA Colombian Supremo Blend Gourmet Coffee with the NBA logo, as well as with the logos of all 30 respective NBA teams.[3][4][5][6][7]

Facility and equipment[edit]

Top Shelf Coffee currently occupies an 8,000-square-foot (740 m2) building where it roasts, grinds and packages coffee. For packaging coffee, the company uses machines manufactured by Viking Packaging Technologies,[8] Rovema[9] and Key Pack.

Funding problems[edit]

According to Top Shelf Coffee owner, Jordan Filippidis, his company is having problems getting loans from local banks and other financial institutions despite the fact that Top Shelf Coffee is being endorsed by the NBA as well as the fact that the NBA has never before endorsed a coffee company, indicating company's potential growth.[10][11]
