Uchhati is a village in the Biraul block of Biraul subdivision in Darbhanga district, Bihar, India. This is one of the populous villages in Biraul block. This is hardly one kilometer from Biraul block and two kilometers from Supaul Bazar (Darbhanga). Darbhanga is at the distance of 48 km from this village. The link road of Darbhanga-Saharsa via Biraul passes through this village. Saharsa is only 40 km from this village. Famous Kusheshwarsthan is 15 kilometers in south-east direction from here. This village has produced outstanding learned persons. Shri Lakshminarayan Jha is the oldest man (94 years old on aug 2016 )in this village. He and Shree Dinanath Jha were the earliest graduates of this village. Dr. Gangadhar Choudhary graduated in M.Sc. in Chemistry and proceeded to Canada (1963) where he earned his Ph.D. degree and settled in the United States of America with his family. Then, Dr. Kamal Nath Jha graduated with first class first in both B.SC.(Hons.) and M.SC. and went to Canada with his wife, Prema Jha, for higher studies (1965). He obtained Ph.D. and Master of Business Administration degrees there and worked for Government of Canada as Science Manager. Now he is retired and settled in Toronto, Canada with his family. The population of this village according to 2011 census is 8387. The village code is 227739. The sc population is 1254. The ST population is 1. The no. of literate persons is 3578. The workers population is 2157. Shri Chaturanan Jha the youngest brother of Shri Lakshminarayan Jha had been Pramukh of Biraul block for two decades approximately. Tarini Prasad Jha is the retired CBI SP. Rama Kant Jha is retired agricultural officer. He had done B.Sc.Ag from prestigious agriculture college Dholi of Bihar government. Harischandra Jha and Gopal jee jha retired from JK COLLEGE Biraul. Babukant Jha is the retired welfare Inspector. Population of this village consists of Hindus and Muslims both. The Hindu castes people are from Brahmans Yadavs Kanu Teli Suri Kalwar Halwai Barai Mallah Kayasth Chamar Dusadh Dom Sonar Julaha. Muslims are from the castes of Rangrej Darji Kujara. Four Hindu Rajputs family have settled in the past decade in the northern side of this village. 10 Bahman families have settled in the past two decades in this village. This village is situated in three tolas. The names of Tolas are Balara and Theeka in addition to the main village named Uchhati. This village has Panchayat status. Panchayat name is also Uchhati. There is a Sanskrit high school in this village founded by Rama Kant Jha retired agriculture officer. The daily puja is performed in Radha Krishna Thakurwari founded by Bhuvaneshwar Jha popularly known as Bhuwaneshwar Babajee. There is a temple campus consisting of Gods Shiv Hanuman and Goddess Durga. Branch of Kamala river passes through the west side of the village. The twin villages Bhadhar-Paghari is in the south-east side of this village. The other twin villages Benk-Ballia are in the north-west side of this village. Supaul -Bazar & Biraul are in north side of this village. The village Sonepur is in the east side of this village. The village Kalana is in the south side of this village.One finds cosmic culture here.This village has produced six Ph.D holders.Two in Chemistry two in Physics one in Botany and one in Mathematics.
