Alien Jones is a series of TV commercials produced by Suntory for their Boss Coffee line of canned coffees. In it, Tommy Lee Jones plays an alien sent to observe human culture on Earth, and adopts a human disguise while working odd jobs in Japan.

General Storyline in the Commercials[edit]

"Jones" is often seen working at a job, and makes mostly deadpan observations about humans as part of his observational role on Earth. His attempts to hide his true identity sometimes fails as he uses his superhuman strength and alien abilities to complete a task or avoid situations. Near the end of the commercial, he is often seen drinking a canned coffee of BOSS Coffee Rainbow Mountain.

A tagline goes For this wonderful worthless world...., while a narrator ends the commercial by Introducing BOSS Rainbow Mountain Coffee.

Commercials[edit]

# Title Original air date
01 "Sunrise"   ?
Two salarymen in a Ramen Shop joke about how aliens watched one movie and began to observe earth, and that one alien changed himself to Tommy Lee Jones to diguise himself. They leave only to reveal "Alien Jones" was sitting right next to them. Jones makes an observation that Humans are missing something, but finds a Sunrise to be beautiful.
02 "Tired"   ?
Jones is introduced at a warehouse, and observes the human activity called "work." While being shown how to lift a box, he bounces back after bending backwards too much. He then wonders why humans love being "tired" (Otsukare-sama).
03 "1-9-8-0"   ?
Jones is hired to work in a Electronics store, and observes shoppers satisfying their materialism lifestyle. A young boy hands him a headband with glowing eyes and a flying saucer to demonstrate how to use it, and Jones begins to repeat "1980" to the customers.
04 "Delivery"   ?
Jones is delivering packages, and is outrun by another deliveryman, who wishes him "good luck." Going back for another parcel, he notices two Parking officers putting a parking violation ticket onto his truck, while noting that parking regulations are strict on Earth.
05 "Revenge"   ?
Noting the other Deliveryman, Jones steps up his pace, and delivers parcels at breakneck speeds, even destroying doors in the process. Jones laments why Humans need to be in such a hurry. He then again notices two Parking officers putting a parking violation ticket onto his truck, so he teleports to them and bow to apologize for his actions.
06 "Karaoke"   ?
Jones works in a Karaoke Box, and notes that Karaoke is a loud activity and annoying. As a result, his ear canal closes to block out the noise. However, a song by Enka singer Aki Yashiro makes him cry.
07 "Host Club"   ?
Jones works in a Host Club, and notes that humans like to compete and "rank" each other. A customer complains that Jones is not suited for the job, but Jones retaliates by flicking a strawberry she was about to eat off the fork she was holding. He then finds Tanning salons "cool."
08 "Shiba Dog"   ?
As Jones passes out magazines and is berated for not passing out enough, he wonders about humans relationship with a strange animal called the "Dog." He especially likes the Shiba Inu, but a puppy bites him as he pets it.
09 "Security"   ?
Jones works at an Airport security checkpoint, and ponders why people travel, a tiring process in Jones own observation. As Jones checks a passenger that has set-off a metal detector, two kids play and fool around, which causes Jones to get angry and go into a semi-demonic form of anger.
10 "Completion"   ?
Jones has gotten his relocation orders and remembers back about the times of drinking BOSS Coffee. 11 "Hot Spring"   ?
