AdolpheY is the user name for Adolphe Yacé

Adolphe Yacé is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts under a Dean’s Scholarship at Boston University College of Fine Arts. He received his Master in Music Education at Boston University under a Fulbright grant. Previous educations include the Certification to teach music at middle and high school level, from the “Ecole Normale Supérieure of Abidjan”, the Licence ès lettres in Music Education from National University of Côte d’Ivoire; a Certificate in Music Performance (Electric Bass Guitar) from The French-Speaking Council of Song (CFC) Brussels, Belgium; and the Baccalaureate in Music from Ecole Normale de Musique in Côte d’Ivoire. Mr. Yacé studied and received training from the following: Drummology with the late Niangoran Bouah; Ethnomusicology with J. H. Kwabena N’ketia; Musicology with Leon Adepo Yapo, Paul Dagry; Jazz with Katchie Cartwright and research in music education with André de Quadros, Anthony Palmer. Positions he has held as educator include: Teacher of Musicology, Music Theory, Electric Bass Guitar, and Solfège at the National Institute for Arts and Culture, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; music teacher at the elementary and middle school level (Eau Vive, Abidjan); and Band Director National University Modern Music Band, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Speaker for the senior Fulbright pre academic program, Kansas City, KS Administrative positions include: President of the National Association for Music Educators in Côte d’Ivoire; Director of the National School of Music, National Institute for Arts and Culture, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; Coordinator of the National Seminar on Music Education in Côte d’Ivoire; member of the Directing Committee for the implementation of the African Music Department at the National Institute for Arts and Culture, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He also served as a consultant for the Projet d’Appui aux Initiatives Culturelles Décentralisées under the funding of the European Union. Mr. Yacé performed as Lead Percussionist with the Ballet of the National University, Abidjan; the Research group on African Classical Music (A.R.C Musical); and was the bass player of the National University Modern Music Band, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He is a composer and producer of movie soundtracks, commercial campaigns for numerous products along with jingles for radio and TV shows in several African and non African countries including Ivory Coast, Benin, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Liberia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Democratic Congo, England, and France. Mr. Yacé’s impact on Music Education in Cote d’Ivoire is felt under his leadership, organization and execution of seminars and workshops with administrators, teachers, and choral directors. Additionally, he is a renowned academic in the field of traditional and popular music in West Africa.
