Pat Villani is a computer programmer, author, and advocate of free software, best known for his work on the FreeDOS kernel. Villani joined the FreeDOS project in 1994 after reading Jim Hall’s announcement on comp.os.msdos.misc. His initial contribution was of a MS-DOS compatible operating system which he had been working on for commercial release, but rewrote and placed under GPL in response to Hall's announcement. Villani also authoredFreeDOS Kernel which describes the design of the FreeDOS kernel and the original FreeDOS command.com command line interpreter. He remains active with FreeDOS, and is currently the coordinator for the project.
