• Aztecazo ― Match played in June 2001: Mexico 1–2 Costa Rica. First non-friendly defeat suffered by the Mexico national football team at the Estadio Azteca. Immensely notorious in the CONCACAF area, especially in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras.
• Snow Clasico ― Match played in March 2013: United States 1–0 Costa Rica. Only World Cup qualifying victory by the USA over Costa Rica between 2005 and 2021. Relevant in the CONCACAF area, especially in Costa Rica and the United States, due to the unusual conditions under which the match was played.
• Limón Black Star ― Newly created football team in Limón.
• Proposed Alajuelense Stadium ― A stadium project by Costa Rican powerhouses L.D. Alajuelense.
