Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Darkwind 05:23, Feb 21, 2005 (UTC)
== Creating Articles == Good work creating new articles. When you create things, it helps tremendously to assign them to an accurate category (see WP:CG for info). If you're really not sure about categories, at least assign your new articles a stub category (see WP:SC for info). By assigning a category, you help make sure your new articles don't get lost as 'orphans' that are not associated with related topics. Feco 06:35, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Thanx! I didn't want to have the usual boring signature, but I also wanted to avoid a sig that was ostentatious. I mostly just wanted to add the talk page link (and why doesn't the MediaWiki software do that automatically?), but since I was going through the trouble of editing my sig, I thought that I would at least try to be a little creative.
I'm not that happy with the green, orange, and lavender color combo, but every other choice that I tried just looked ugly, or looked like I was trying for some flag tricolour. There are two other problems that I see with it (other than the bad HTML in my original version that the MediaWiki software ignored until a fairly recent software upgrade, which then had my sig bleeding color on every talk page I had made comments on). One is that the signature does take up a lot of space when you are in Edit mode. The other is that for at least Win98 and earlier computers without upgraded fonts, the empty set symbol for my Talk page link doesn't work (it would also be true for anyone not using a Unicode-compliant browser). I could have "cheated" and used Ø (Ø) instead of ∅ (∅), but it wouldn't have been the same. BlankVerse ∅ 05:24, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi, it looks like there's an unclosed bold tag in the html of your signature (the one before the "thi"), and it's messing up some pages as a consequence. You might not have noticed this before, as mediawiki's tidy function (which is occasionally turned off for performance reasons) often covers up such errors. -- John Fader (talk | contribs) 10:05, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Re your nickname: [[User:BD2412|<font style="background: green" color=#FFC000> BD2412</font>]] [[User talk:BD2412|<font color="Blue"><b>talk</font>]].
This opens and <b> tags and does not close them. This messed up a view of VfD for me - I don't know why it does not do it all the time. Please fix. -- RHaworth 19:42, 2005 May 31 (UTC)

Invitation to Inquiry
Hi again - I'd be happy to help, but be warned, I'm going to have a little less net access than normal during that week myself. Things will get cleaned, but it may take a few hours before I notice (I'm house-sitting for a friend who's off overseas for a week). Grutness...wha? 00:11, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi, I received this request: "Banu Qurayza I'd be interested in your thoughts, and if you have time, your help in editing.Briangotts 02:34, 31 May 2005 (UTC)" Are you able to take a look at it, it's also being "disputed". Thanks. IZAK 03:29, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Need a favor
I just spent several hours disambiguating Knopf, Alfred A. Knopf (person), Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. and Knopf Publishing Group but now I have decidedd (after seeing how the links originated) that I really need to have Alfred A. Knopf be the page for the publishing company. I would like to MOVE [[Knopf Publishing Group there but I need to have Alfred A., Knopf deleted first. I deleted the text I added and nothing no links there. CAn you delete that page for me? Thanks. Time to study
Take a break and go study civil procedure! Wikipedia can wait. Good luck on the bar exam. DS1953 21:21, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
thanks for the Point Judith link, and WikiHell, and what are you doing reading this, anyway? Get back to your books. --Mothperson 2 July 2005 14:18 (UTC)
Some Wiktionarians want to delete surnames from Wiktionary. I'm opposing, on the grounds that this is a long-standing arrangement between Wiktionary and Wikipedia, where Wiktionary handles the lexicography and Wikipedia handles the people and places. Please come to Wiktionary:Wiktionary:Requests for deletion#Surnames and contribute to the discussion. Uncle G 2005-07-03 13:42:55 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the barnstar, although I am not certain that I deserve it. You see, I've recently had somebody accuse me of attempting to steal credit for his work, and I want to be certain that this has nothing to do with his work. If the barnstar is being given, even in part, for the U.S. Supreme Court composition link farms at the bottom of some of the early justice biographies, such as James Wilson, then I must decline the honor. — DLJessup 6 July 2005 04:50 (UTC)
Reverting your user page
Can I do the merge and redirect you're talking about, or does an admin have to do that? BrandonYusufToropov 17:01, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
British is now down through the 300 barrier. I've noticed new pages appear every day, this one will need constant maintainence! Mark 22:54, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
By the way, if you have an opinion on the work being done to bring Human rights in the United States up to date, I hope you'll share it there. (The article was basically frozen in place at about the year 2000.) Peace, BrandonYusufToropov 03:18, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

What is the proper way to sign on voting, per your remark Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/ACF Regionals 2000 answers. I thought someone told me to type three tilde's on votes.--BirgitteSB 18:11, July 18, 2005 (UTC)
I'm glad to see the bar exam didn't leave you too drained to return to your duties here. Now for the wait... DS1953 03:19, July 29, 2005 (UTC)
I noticed you have edited a bunch of articles on my watchlist, especially disambiguation link repair. I just wanted to say thank you for the work. Courtkittie 04:10, 3 August 2005 (UTC)
Promotional photos and fair use
Hey, IP lawyer smartguy! Yeah, you! I've got a dilemma. My newest project on Wiki involves baseball players, and as such I've been uploading headshots of MLB players taken directly from baseball's official website – for example, Torii Hunter. It's my understanding as a moderately informed layman that Wikipedia should be able to use these images under Fair Use, and this belief is further reinforced by the wording of this template, which I have been applying to each and every image I've been uploading. (It appears to have been altered to include some stronger wording since I started using it.) Apparently, someone else is also interested in uploading photos of baseball players, but balks at my fair use claim, and insists that we use only fan-created images. He left a rather confrontational message on my talk page, and I would like some lawyerly advice before I respond to him. If the use of these images is a definite no-no or if it even falls into some sort of fuzzy legal area, I've got no problem with not using the images, but I think avoiding copyright paranoia is also important, and the inability to use these images takes some of the fun out of my little project. Your thoughtful and, dare I say it, brilliant reply is eagerly awaited. android79 04:06, August 6, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind comment. If you're inclined to make any first efforts on the other Federalist Papers, the Template:Federalist Papers has a lot of redlinks to be filled in. Christopher Parham (talk) 17:18, 2005 August 14 (UTC)

Your opinion on an image copyright tag?
What's your opinion on the correct license tag for Image:Benedelman-spyware-whenu-license-image011.png? The image was created as a screenshot of a copyrighted program by a third party, then used as part of a blog entry on spyware. The blog is licensed under GFDL. If the screenshot is used in the article on spyware, is it under the GFDL license of the blog, or under fair use? --Carnildo 04:55, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski)
Thanks, for all the sandwiches!
Well BD, I don't really know who is doing the shenanigans concerning copy-cat accounts. I havn't really had a WP conflict, outside of one individual at the London, Ontario page, but as Splash pointed out, it's not really his style. Its probably just someone who's jealous that I have such a groove-a-licious nickname. Everyone knows, a sandwich can be very satisfying! Peace! Hamster Sandwich 04:20, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Congratulations I'm sure!
Hey whats going on my fine fellow florida jurist? I'm just dropping by being nosy . . . to of course ask how you did on the FL bar exam. Can you believe someone in my firm claims he got a "170" on the MBE (I don't believe him for a second). I have to wait 2 more months to get my results back from NY though.
You OK with the Hurricane and all? I got back to the Gables after 2 weeks abroad and oh my god, half the trees on my property were shattered, debris everywhere. I was pretty cranked off but then again, it was nothing compared to what that storm did to New Orleans a few days after it hit our "tropical paradise."
Well, I hope things are going well, good luck on your career! Rainbowwarrior1977 00:07, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
Your user talk page needs less Image:Cowbell2.gif
You have the image Image:Cowbell2.gif on your user talk page; this image is copyrighted and used in the Will Ferrell article under Wikipedia:Fair use. The use on your user page of that image is unlikely to be covered by use however, and as such is probably a Copyright violation. Could you remove the image from your user talk page? Thanks. --fvw* 23:22, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi. I've noticed that we watch some of the same articles and share opinions in AfD sometimes. I just felt like telling you that I hold your opinions in high esteem. :) --Jacquelyn Marie 23:09, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
How did you change your signature to include the green backround and talk button, I can't find anything about it on the Help pages, or do you just type on the signature manually. (Please respond on my talk page)
P.S.I know you already do respond on talk pages, but some users don't so I made a point to always include "respond on talk page". (Maybe I'll add it to my signature, depending on your answer)

What should I do, I don't want to get in another argument. My problem
Saw your comment on RfA; hope Hurricane Wilma didn't treat you too badly. I know things are a lot worse in south Florida as opposed to central Florida, so I hope you're dry and safe.
