Kodumutty Nadans

         Kodumutty nadans are the petty cheifs of the venad kingdom. The are in rule till 1810.the family history go back to the early chera empire and currently the family lineage starts from 1690 Irulan nadan the head cheif of the kodumutty nadan family.

Irulan nadan -1690 Boothathan nadan -1723 Bheeman nadan -1756(s/o Boothathan nadan) Kutty Boothan nadan(s/o Boothathan nadan)-1762 Padbanaban nadan(s/o Boothathan nadan ) -1765 Arumugam nadan alias abhram-1790 (First son) Kutty nadan alias kunamudaiyan -1805

    There sons and families are still residents on kodumutty 

  Boothathan was a name used by the venad king Puli boothala udya marthandan nadan who ruled the kingdom from (1522-1544). 

War against nayakar

  Kodumutty nadan family fought an war against nayakars raids into venadu country side during 1697 in which the nayakar army camped near neyoor the name of the palace was palaiyam still today. Kodumutty nadans sieged there camp and fought the battle in kollai during the battle  100 horsemens of nayakar was killed and the battle of kollai was made a great honor to kodumutty family and the venadu king gifted 8000acres of land to kodumutty nadan cheif 

Civil war of venad

     After the death of rama varaman in the year 1727 venad civil war broke out, Thambimars the son of rama varaman claimed the throne but the prince of neyattankara whos origin was from malabar set his eye on the throne fought the internal battle for two years in which kodumutty nadan made a side with thambimars,but thambimars was defeated by bala mardanthada varaman with help of british and nayakar forces 42 nadans were hanged in this civil  war, ettuvettu pillaimar also taken out of the country, some nadan families moved to pandya country.kodumutty still holds it part in marthanda varaman period. 

BATTLE OF COLACHEL

      Battle of colachel was fought against the dutch east indian company. In which 15000 venadu army was used in this battle against the dutch army who made the fort on colchel an took control over some regions of venad 

Irulan nadan of kodumutty was the commander of the forces along with anthapadbhanaba nadar of thachanvillai, kumara udaya marthandan nadan of naduvukarai with more tan 8000 nadar army men and the combined army of nair, elavar, mukkuvar etc... This siege lengthed for more than 6 month months final the venadu army defeated the dutch army which made them major ser back in malabar region.

G.christopher (Ex.chairman of nagercoil municipality ) father of nagercoil municipality was from kodumutty family. MAJOR NELSON of indian army was from this family. Paul sekhar (ex.neyyor president )was form kodumutty family
