Tom is a Vice President of Core Technologies Group of Oracle Corporation, and is the Tom behind the popular web forum asktom, in which he himself answers queries of Oracle Developers/DBAs. He is a database architect, and one of the most respected figures in the Oracle community; for example, being listed as member of the Oak Table Network and an Oracle ACE.

Thomas Kyte has also written books related to the Oracle RDBMS. Expert One on One Oracle (ISBN 1-59059-243-3), and Effective Oracle by Design (ISBN 0-07-223065-7) are two of his most popular books. There is also a new book of his that was released recently, Expert Oracle Database Architecture: 9i and 10g Programming Techniques and Solutions (ISBN 1-59059-530-0).

He has been working with Oracle RDBMS since 1987 (version 5.1.5c) and working with Oracle Corporation since 1993.

He currently lives in Round Hill, Virginia with his children Megan and Alan.
