Robert Porras

Robert 'Bob' Porras (born September 14 1960) is a US citizen and the creator of the open storage community for OpenSolaris. Bob currently is VP VMAX Engineering for EMC.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in June 1983, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Boston University in May 1988 and a Master of Science in Management from Lesley University in May 1990.

Bob has made contributions toward Operating Systems, Real-time operating systems, Non-Uniform Memory Access servers, Enterprise Computer data storage, Fault-tolerant servers, the Optical switch and Semiconductors. Prior to EMC, Bob held positions at NetApp, Sun/Oracle, Sycamore Networks, Compaq, Vitesse Semiconductor, Digital Equipment Corporation and Startup Companies.
