Carlos Cruz is native from the Dominican Republic, born on May 19th, 1970 in the city of San Cristobal. He has two children, Carlos Jose and Marilen. He obtained the degree of Electrical Engineer (1995) As many other immigrants, He moved to USA and became a citizen, He has resided in the city of Newark ever since He came to the US. He has always been an active member in the community, involved and groups such as; Conference of Dominican Affairs " CODA" , Quisqueyanos Unidos, Merchants and Professional Newark Association; Mr. Cruz has been characterized as a strong fighter for the development and advancement of the Latino Community in the City of Newark.

ACHIEVEMENTS On July 1rst, 2009 He founded the nonprofit community “Association for development and promotion of the Hispanic Community", Where English classes, computer classes as well as preparation for the citizenship exam are being offered to the community with no cost.

Hispanic Fellowship Dinner 2010 (Manor, Belleville NJ) Seminars for Non-profit organizations 2011 (Rutgers University, NEWARK NJ) Unification Dinner of the Newark Dominican Community 2012 (Hispanic Restaurant, NEWARK NJ) On 2012 He was elected as fifteen districts Democratic Delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention, to work in the Re-election of President Barack Obama as a candidate of the Democratic Party. He also worked for Cory Booker in 2006-2010 as well as 2010-2014, as a challenges and poll worker.

He is also a writer in local newspapers always carrying uplifting message and He has also participated in the organization of various events in the community of Newark.
