One can always benefit from a well-structured user page that conveys enough information for other users to understand what you actually do and how you do it. All of the information on this page is verifiable and an accurate description of my editing style. I have seen some users with a user page that only contains a random image or abstract information, the knowledge of which will not benefit anyone. I consider such user pages to be pointless.

Account history[edit]

I created this account in 2018[1], wishing to improve articles about Middle Eastern history, especially that of the United Arab Emirates, where I reside. March 2019, my WikiOgre period, was a peak in terms of editing,[2] and also a point of transition from focusing on history-related articles to music-related articles. I worked on many articles about the Jackson family of entertainers and its members, also occasionally improving lists and other such pages that are usually left on the sidelines. During this period, I created my alternate account, WikiWiseLife.[3][b] Late 2019 and Early 2020 were my WikiGnome period. During this time, I did not have a very large focus on any particular subject, but occasionally used Wikipedia to fix mistakes and clean up articles. I briefly lost access to my account, and was forced to use a Temporary WP account to edit, until regaining access. In late 2021, the beginning of my WikiBear period, I returned to heavy editing and made my new focus Articles for deletion. I have been a deletionist and mergist since November 2021 and believe that Wikipedia functions better with less articles with more information, as compared to more articles with less information. In December 2021, I started using RTRC and Twinkle to help revert widespread vandalism.

Wikilosophy[edit]

I believe that the purpose of Wikipedia is not to share information with others, but rather to build a large collection of readable and true information, that is not overedited or overloaded. Productive editing does not mean adding more information or more articles; it means improving the readability and trueness of the information and articles that exist, whether this requires adding to, subtracting from, or reorganizing it. This principle is described clearly in WP:NOT, yet seems to not be practiced by many editors, who believe that the purpose of editing Wikipedia is to add more words to the 3.9 billion it already has. Wikipedia has many unnecessary articles (especially about individual athletes and towns) that are too short to give the reader any input into whatever they need the article for, and many well-written, well-sourced articles that are nonetheless too specific and/or too detailed.[c]

Miscellaneous information[edit]

My account average is 1 edit per day.[1] I am a current member of WikiProject History, and a former member of WikiProject Biography, WikiProject Michael Jackson, and WikiProject United Arab Emirates. The WikiFauna that most closely describes me is the WikiBear. The Wikipediholism test informed me that I am addicted to Wikipedia.

Other Wikimedia projects[edit]

I now have a separate user page on all Wikimedia projects, though basically no edits on most of them. I have done some stuff on Commons and Wikidata, but that's about it.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ specifications: User:Philosophy2/Islam
  2. ^ There is no sockpuppetry involved in this; I never use the account except for a valid purpose
  3. ^ This is most obvious when you repeatedly click "Random Article".
  4. ^ First as an AfC submission, one of 2-3 drafts referring to the film. The drafts were eventually merged together and then moved to the mainspace. Consequently, this article has multiple creators, me being one of them.
