My name is George Rodriguez and I currently live in Tampa, FL. One of my main hobbies is music. I've been in the music business in both radio and as a club DJ for 17 years combined. I've studied and analyzed the Billboard charts since I was young and enjoy using my musical knowledge to help improve and add to Wikipedia articles, especially regarding music. I especially enjoy making music and song articles more complete by adding chart positions and peak dates, according to Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart.
I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Northern Virginia in Fairfax, VA. After graduating from Fairfax High School (Fairfax, Virginia) my family moved to Port Charlotte, FL. I then spent 14 years in Sarasota, FL before moving to Tampa, FL.
I volunteered at radio station WMJR in Warrenton, VA in 1986 while still in high school as well as WEEJ in Port Charlotte, FL from 1987-1988. After a few years I realized I could make a living doing something that was fun to me and began disc jockey'ing at an ice skating rink, the Ice Chateau, in Venice, FL in 1993 until they moved locations in 1997, becoming the Venice Ice Pavillion. I moved to Sarasota, FL in 1994, where I lived until 2009, working at various clubs in the area. I began working as a disc jockey at a different level in Sarasota, FL at a club called "Club X" (aka "Bumpers") in 1996. In 1999 I became resident DJ at H.G. Rooster's on Siesta Key, FL until they were sold in October of the same year. In early 2000 I became the resident DJ at "Therapy Night Club" on Clark Road in Sarasota, FL and was there until 2003.
I've spun at various clubs in the Sarasota and Bradenton, FL area as well as a few in Tampa, FL over the next few years, including Witness Cafe in Sarasota, FL and Chambers Night Club in Tampa, FL (2003 and 2004, briefly) to name a few. As of late 2009 I have decided to take a break from spinning.
I've always been a music nerd and chart geek plus an avid music collector particularly the top hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. I'm most fond of music from the 60s through 90s. Music will always be my true love!
I'd like to use my vast musical and chart knowledge to help out Wikipedia in as many ways as possible.
