Kulap[edit]

--Rosiestep (talk) 23:39, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for nominating Great Mosque of Sana'a and Mount Sage National Park. I have been pretty sick last two days and internet connection in my house is not working. I am writing this from my office this Monday morning. The two usages, 'vintage' and 'vogue' are very common in Indian English, so also Vi-a-Vis in govt. reports and even news papers. Any way, I have noted your observations and will avoid their usage. I have discontinued usage of Vis-a-Vis. As regards Kulap I can not find any more alternate reference. You may be able to find some, add to make it 5x and then nominate. Rosie has completed her inputs to this article. On Mount Sage, there are two other related articles of Mount Cunningham and John Crabbe Cunningham (the Scottish Mountaineer), which Rosie started last week to which you may like to add. Saleh Mosque is still short of a few words.--Nvvchar. 06:07, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Well taken. As I mentioned I will try to use less of these words. I should get out of my attachment to Indish. I have nominated Mount Jackson (Antarctica). May need some more text to make it 5x. I have added to the Pambamarca. I have also requested for some pictures. You may like to add an Infobox with a map. My laptop is still out of order. If I don't leave a message in the night for the new year, here is wishing you Happy New Year 2013. Tomorrow is a holiday here.--Nvvchar. 11:04, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

So weird! I looked at a bunch of missing Oceania articles yesterday, i.e. PNG area. Just didn't have the time to start on them. We must get to them in 2013, and their associated landforms (bays, peninsulas, etc.). --Rosiestep (talk) 23:39, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Bigglesworth: Milk is in the saucer waiting for your arrival. I'm headed out for cocktails... don't wait up. Txt me if you need anything. --Rosiestep (talk) 00:32, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Last day, so I nomed Kulap and Mount Cunningham and John Crabbe Cunningham; please add your name to the JCC nom if you have an opportunity to work on it. --Rosiestep (talk) 05:39, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

I had seen the img on Spanish wikipedia, but the image history in wiki-commons does not give any details of its location. If you have doubts, it could be deleted. May be one of your User friend from that region could confirm its location. I have completed my inputs to the article. You may like to nominate it as our first for 2013. I am better today. I am sure our collaboration will continue fruitfully during 2013 as well. Wishing yoבu happy beginnings on the first day of the New Year.--Nvvchar. 03:09, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Well done on this one. I thought I recognized the title from some time ago... :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:43, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the congratulations. If you have time you may be interested in Pengkhianatan G30S/PKI, although not as happy a film. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:36, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Well, I started the list of Indonesian films a while back and created some of the first articles on Indonesian movies on wikipedia, I never dreamed that we'd ever have a featured article on such a film, Dutch Indies or not. I've always said that we should striving to cover the non anglo world further back in time, its the weakest part of the encyclopedia, so thankyou for that. I think I'll do some work on settlements in that neck of the woods over the next few weeks. If you have a list of missing notable towns or something that would be good.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:39, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Dr B[edit]

Mutual respect. 1000 DYKs! second only to PFHLai's 1000 claim to fame. Monmouth and Gibraltarpedia also created over 1000 new articles. I've been looking at the churches too - they are tricky. I was very pleased to see the work you did on the Moroccan settlements Id like to do more there too. A silly waste of energy in 2012 on soundbite politics, hopefully even better progress in 2013. Thanks Victuallers (talk) 01:11, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Metasonix users[edit]

Thanks for the updates at Metasonix. There's a section with names of claimed notable users that I did not remove during a major revamp, but I wonder if we should remove names unless they are sourced? Jokestress (talk) 21:16, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes, that is a bit concerning, but I think it was done in good faith. But I strongly doubt it is regularly used by The Edge and people,if they did use it it was probably briefly.. Remove it if you can't source it. Now, an article on bureaucratic calcification on the Internet and wikipedia is definitely what we need!! I couldn't agree with you more.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 21:18, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Mahabalipuram monuments project[edit]

I've started a project page at User:Rosiestep/sandbox/Mahabalipuram monuments project so that we can keep our comments about the project in that one location. --Rosiestep (talk) 00:41, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

I have added more text to Mount Jackson (Antarctica) as required under DYK review. Please see if it is adequate. I am starting to work on Laos articles.--Nvvchar. 15:55, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Pambamarca is due for nomination today. I have no more text or imgs to add.--Nvvchar. 05:07, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
I have also completed my inputs to Cambodia, Laos and Indonesia articles. I don't want to do Gibraltar article in view of my past expreince with some of their users. I will now concentarte on User pages created by Rosie on Mahabalipuram.--Nvvchar. 09:56, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Happy New Year![edit]

Best wishes for the New Year!
Here's wishing you and yours a joyous, healthful, and productive 2013!

Please accept a belated thank you for the well wishes upon my retirement as FAC delegate this year, and apologies for the false alarm of my first—and hopefully last—retirement; the well wishes extended me were most kind, but I decided to return, re-committed, when another blocked sock was revealed as one of the factors aggravating the FA pages this year.

Maintaining standards in featured content requires vigilance, dedication and knowledge of people like you, who are needed; reviews are always welcome at FAC, FAR and TFA requests. Somehow, somehow we never ever seem to do nothin' completely nice and easy, but here's hoping that 2013 will see a peaceful road ahead and a return to the quality and comaraderie that defines the FA process, thanks to many dedicated Wikipedians!

Gwladys Street's Hall of Fame[edit]

Happy New Year to you as well. No problems, I'll create some stubs over the weekend if I have time. GiantSnowman 16:52, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

I tagged Gwladys Street's Hall of Fame (an article you alerted me to!) because I don't think it is notable; I tagged Tara Bethan because it popped up in your recent contribs and it was in this state which was not acceptable - unreferenced info and didn't meet GNG. I'm stuck on the location for this one. Open streetmap has a coord but its in the sea. I'll have to ask a local. Probably by Jimbo's Algerian secretary, fearful of Gibraltar and Morocco gaining tourists at their expense, ahem.. Dunno I'll take a look. Stacking fourths and fifths[edit]

Hi Dr. B.

I should warn you not to send me interesting videos! I replied on my talk page about your stacking in fourths video, noting the upgrading of new standard tuning. Fripp apparently doesn't cotton to thirds in equal temperaments, and so prefers to stack perfect intervals: unisons, octaves, fifths, .

I'm trying to restructure guitar chord to start with scales and keys, and discuss the C,G,D major keys and their relative minors as the generators for the fundamental chords. This would be more economical and informative, unlike discussing "CAGED" chords. There's some related discussion at User talk:Hyacinth.

BTW, M3 tuning does allow 6-string major (or minor) strumming by using two fingers at the 11th fret for C/E/G#-major (or 13th fret for A/C#/F minor in first inversion), besides the obvious C/E/G# augmented triads. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 14:23, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Not many guitarists are up on major thirds tuning!!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:37, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Believe it or not: There has been a cottage industry of building chords in fourths in the 20th century.
I added a bit to quartal and quintal harmony. Please use your guitarist's library to expand the discussion of guitarists like Robert Fripp and Joni Mitchell.
Cheers! Kiefer.Wolfowitz 00:53, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Good job! I'm afraid its a subject I don't find easy to write about! Hehe ironically for Blofeld/Dr. Evil I've been engaging myself in the Alan Parsons Project!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:41, 8 January 2013 (UTC)♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:36, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Nono, its dreadful music. Awful!!! My dad told me to check out one of their songs which featured Spanish guitar on it [1], but it was ruined by the 80s synth. I looked at one or two of their others and it's the same 80s cheese.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:58, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Circle progression[edit]

of guitar chords

I sketched a bit of intermediate guitar-chords. The Circle progression seems to be the usual way to discuss the centrality of the ii-V-I progression to jazz, so it should be mentioned. I mentioned modes....

Have I sketched the main topics needed for a discussion of intermediate chords?

I still think that a discussion of major scales should be emphasized more in the fundamentals discussion.

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The lead would be better if it also carried information on the subject's personal data such as birth date, nationality, etc.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

It would be better if it was a featured article too, don't you know. Shall I tag it and say "please expand and make this a featured article."♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:58, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Ho, ho, ho! But thanks for your stubbing spree. I'll look through the articles and see what I can add (I have a Wexford book called What the Doctor Ordered, though it's a bit vague about dates). Then it's back to Neville Cardus and Glyndebourne casts from 1958 onwards. --GuillaumeTell 18:10, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Sounds good. I may expand a few with Rosie, help of course is appreciated.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:11, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

As it happens, I've seen Down by the Greenwood Side (opera) and somewhere I have a programme... --GuillaumeTell 18:37, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Excellent, you could probably write a plot for it sometime then!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 18:38, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Evelina Aizpuriete[edit]

There's actually no section at ATHLETE for swimmers; she competed at the 2012 European Aquatics Championships but didn't make the final in 50m or 100m. WP:NTRACK is perhaps the nearest but she doesn't hit any of those if you adapt them for swimming, from what I can see. Doesn't appear to meet GNG either - I'd say non-notable. Why not create in a sandbox so I can get a better picture? Or just risk it and create it. GiantSnowman 17:25, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Exactly - only 18, plenty of time for her to become notable - no need to rush! GiantSnowman 17:29, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Notability for inclusion for deaths[edit]

Hey Dr. Blofeld. :3 I got a question. You know for the articles 2012, deaths are listed as well? I asked a question on the talk page for including Rajesh Khanna, and I got a no, because of the language thing, but I can fix that (Well I hope), but how is notability determined? Red Hat On Head (talk) 23:11, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I think he's notable enough to list on the 2012 page itself, I'll look into it tomorrow.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 23:14, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! :D Off to fix the language issues, then. Red Hat On Head (talk) 22:40, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ibón de Bachimaña Bajo[edit]

The article Ibón de Bachimaña Bajo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non notable lake.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Caspar Diethelm[edit]

He has been expanded. All but the exhaustive list of compositions, which seemed unnecessary; I used an external listing as a ref. I was able to find only one ref to add, given in the de.wikipedia article as an external link, and it's a French translation of a programme note that was clearly a major source for the German article. Accordingly, there is peacockery that can be cut back. Note that he was both born and died in Lucerne; I would have noted that in the brackets along with the two dates, as at de., but every time I do that in a bio someone comes along and cuts out the places. MOS apparently advocates birth and death places in prose, although all together in the brackets still looks more encyclopedic to me. Since no cause of death or other private life info is given, right now I've left the death place out, except in the computer thingie that readers don't see. Yngvadottir (talk) 00:40, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Glad you liked it :-) I found my way from there to the list of requested composers and undeleted and plumped up Ulf Grahn. Yngvadottir (talk) 13:02, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your efforts to mediate in the recent edit war. I note that the other party has not responded to your intervention, and has not edited the article for several days. I propose shortly to standardise the remaining rogue ref formats and other minor punctuation issues. Other than these I will leave all text as it is for now, unless the edit war resumes. Closer to the TFA date I will audit the article's prose and do any necessary "polishing". Brianboulton (talk) 21:55, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Looks like 4 of them don't meet the expansion requirement... by a lot. Ergo, there's an ALT1 suggestion which I think you, rather than Nvvchar or me, needs to decide if it's acceptable, under the circumstances. Re:Darah dan Doa[edit]

Not necessarily; while the film would clearly be PD in Indonesia, I can't see any reason why it would be considered PD in the United States. On the English Wikipedia, content needs to be PD in the US; on Commons, it needs to be PD in both the US and the source country. If it was PD in Indonesia on 1 January 1996, this would apply, but it seems it wasn't. Otherwise, it's possible that Template:PD-Pre1978 or Template:PD-US-not renewed may apply, but that would require a little research. Crisco 1492 (talk · contribs) is based in Indonesia and rather savvy with image issues; he may be able to offer some more specific advice. J Milburn (talk) 16:41, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

  • That's more or less what I said above. Since it became public domain in Indonesia in 2000, it would have been renewed by the URAA. What about as an external link though? WP:ELNO is unclear on this. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:43, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Guitar tunings: From C to B?[edit]

Guitar tunings is bad, but no longer terrible. ;) I think it might be possible to improve the article to B, with little pain.

I think that the open tunings can be shortened to a few paragraphs, with the listings moved to the list.

I'd also like to remove the systematic diagram-use from the regular tunings, and remove the prose of tritone tuning and minor thirds, with the tunings moved to the list, and shorten everything. The summary table can be moved to the article on regular tunings.

Then it might be feasible to upgrade the article to B status. There have been no complaints about my having moved the lists to a proper list, so I don't think that trimming would be minded.

One could legitimately complain that regular tunings receive undue weight, at least to judge by the how-to literature; discussions of alternate tunings seem to give all-fifths/NST and all-fourths due respect. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 14:20, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes it needs to be well balanced I think.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:46, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
It hurt, but I cut the article, so that it doesn't tell the truth but satisfies due weight. I moved a lot to the list of guitar tunings, which Wikipedia can deal with. It might be possible to get the article towards GA status.

  • If we had more discussion on the scenes, perhaps under a FU license (owing to the URAA thing). But since it's not free in the US, we don't get to have as much fun as we could. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:38, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Why is the title screen uploadable to the commons then if its not PD in the US? Sorry, I find copyright law a petty business.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:40, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
  • It's a pair of phrases, in plain text. Thus, it's too simple to copyright in US law. Similar to this book cover. (British law, admittedly, requires less creativity than US law, so it theoretically could be in copyright at MI6) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:46, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Certainly creative, the prospect of a 90 year old Indonesian film producer taking wikipedia to court in America for using a few images of an old movie which is public domain in its home country anyway I find rather amusing..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:02, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Filippo Lussana[edit]

I don't know about translations... From what I could find, this one seems accurate enough. The Treccani source actually confirms a lot more of the content, so more cites could be added, but I always feel uneasy about using too much from a Treccani article: I feel like I am stealing from a competitor. I quite often put in translations to fill redlinks without worrying too much about how well-sourced they are, as long as they seem neutral and plausible. But making them front-page-ready is a different question. For that, it is easier to just start with a clear mind, assemble what the accessible sources say and ignore the other wikis. Aymatth2 (talk) 02:16, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

  • I don't have the heart to prune the unsourced material from this one. It is an accurate bio as far as I can tell, but has original research in summaries / quotes from his works. Cutting that material to meet DYK criteria would reduce value. The article was one of several triggered from Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute, which is fully sourced and interesting, but which I am reluctant to feed to the DYK swamp monsters - not worth the aggravation of defending it phrase by phrase. I decided a better title would be Category:Bienes de Interés Cultural. It's in line with what exists in other languages, and it's less exclusive: even "landmarks" will exclude things like stamp albums, swords, things of that nature. I suppose a Category:Bien de Interés Cultural objects could be created at some point as well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:44, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I have nominated the above category for deletion. You will note I am in favour of the information added to WP, just not by category. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 11:58, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Ralph Patt's where it's at[edit]

I saw your description of your jazz playing. You should go to Ralph Patt's site and see his Vanilla Book[3][4] (which is indexed by chord progressions) and his 249=3*83 backing tracks for jazz standards. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 00:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Looks good, I'll look more into it later. Obviously the category guy knows nothing about jazz as in learning jazz its like learning a language and common to learn pieces in a given key and to steal licks from different pieces into your own "vocubulary". Its all part of the learning process. As it is with learning a piece in a given key and being able to play it in a different key. Robert Conti said so, and I'm sure most jazz masters would assert the importance of learning pieces and recognizing common chord changes and solos you can play over certain progressions when improvising. If categories are deleted there should at least be a list of jazz standards organized by key..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
That's so awesome Kiefer, thanks for that! Just been playing along with Autumn Leaves in B flat soloing over the B flat major 7, E flat major 7, A minor 7 flat 5, D 7 flat 9, G minor 7, C7, F7 type progression. D phrygian dominant works over the A minor 7 flat 5, D7 flat 9 to G minor. And it helped that he had "in B flat" next to it.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:46, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
It's obvious that instructional materials are written in conformity with the circle progression, beginning with C -> G -> D and then adding other keys forwards and backwards until the guitarist dies.... ;) It's especially obvious that standard tuning is optimized for open chords in those three keys, and its efficacy deteriorates as one plays further away in the circle progression.
There are Youtube videos of guitarists playing over Patt's tracks. Then there's this fellow.
Somebody should write and publish a discussion of Patt's contributions to the jazz-guitar community after 1975 by being a leading gentleman-scholar online, giving his knowledge away graciously and with self-deprecating humor in discussion groups. Joe Negri is still performing and I think has a new CD out. I assume that others knowledgeable about Patt's professional music life could be found to donate remembrances and media. Purang-Guge kingdom[edit]

"Oh Doctor, dear Doctor, I'm hurting - there's a pain where there once was a heart" - which is why I haven't been contributing to the WP recently - much as I wish I could be. Unfortunately, it has been an increasing struggle to just keep up with daily matters and get a bit of work done on my books recently. I just haven't had enough good time left over for the WP - which is really a shame as I enjoy and admire it so much. Anyway, I added a blockquote and a Footnote section to this article before I stumbled across the fact that there is already quite an extensive article on Guge, and it occurs to me that, although they were closely connected, these small kingdoms do seem to deserve separate articles on each, as they each had separate existences and histories at times and should, therefore, I believe, each deserve the sort of status and coverage Leichenstein receives in the WP. Of course, it is easy for me to say this, but I am not up to doing it all myself at the moment - though I would be most happy to assist by adding quotes and references, etc. Please have a think about it and let me know what you think. If you do agree - and would start stubs for Purang and Maryul - I will try to add some material. If you feel you cannot do it and/or do not have enough info to hand - but are happy for it to happen - again, let me know - and when I have a better day I will try to establish stubs for them. Hope you are well and happy. Cheers, Big Bad John. John Hill (talk) 01:25, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Maroda[edit]

I've been trying to fix up this article and I've been having a heck of a time finding sources. I checked the Census of India and it actually showed five different villages named Maroda in the same state (13 in the country). This village is code 046294 (is that normally included in articles?) In any case, I haven't yet figured out whether I'll find enough to improve the article, but considering the large amounts of Marodas, should the current article be moved to Maroda, Pauri Garhwal and the article Maroda turned into one that says "Maroda" is the name of several Indian villages and then disambiguates them? Ryan Vesey 17:56, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

I can find sources like this one with some demographic information, is that acceptable for an article like this where there's really not much? In addition, can wikimapia be used for coordinates? Ryan Vesey 18:16, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
Er, even more confusing, when I imagine a village, I think of a rural, sparsely inhabited place. This is a school in the village, and it appears like the "village" is actually something like a neighborhood in a city. Is that correct or am I confused? If that is the case, are villages notable in the same way other settlements are? Ryan Vesey 18:19, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
Eeks Indian villages, advise staying away from them unless you want a major headache" Wikimapia is fine for coordinates,♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:35, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

1000°[edit]

Do you know of any search engines that will actually search for 1000° with the degree mark? I keep trying but it treats it as if I just wrote 1000. Ryan Vesey 21:49, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

1000° magazine?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 21:50, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Yep, searches for 1000° magazine and 1000 magazine give me the same unhelpful results. Ryan Vesey 21:55, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
You need to use the special "Deutsche Grad Celsius" symbol, haha. But why wouldn't simply translating the wiki.de article be a starting point? Because none of the sources are in English? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:58, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
The German article doesn't have any sources either that confirm notability. The first two sources are primary and the third one is unrelated, only referencing the Kreuzer magazine. The only claim of mere significance in the German article would be that they had an online club guide as early as 1996, which is equally unreferenced by secondary sources.
In related news, I have also nominated 5vor12 for deletion. It has pretty much the same Problem. De728631 (talk) 22:09, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. At least we now know that German notability would be just as good (if not better) than English notability. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:24, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
Yup, and problems have a capital P in Germany, more important!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:25, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
aber, nicht bemerkenswert has a capital N, offensichtlich. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:29, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
The subject itself is probably still bemerkenswert after all. Like Ryan I had no success for finding proper references doing a "1000°" search on Google. But I just tried a search for 1000 Grad techno magazin (no quotes) at Yahoo and found that the 1000° magazine was actually referenced by Focus as early as 1996. Houses...[edit]

Good doctor, I don't understand...should this be moved again? I'm on a London house binge, and am disquieted by the country tag. I'll take it to talk if I think there will be much opposition. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 22:41, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Country house is is a certain type of house. London townhouses are not, but there are many country type houses within Greater London that used to be part of Kent or whatever. We could change the name of the London category to something like Category:Stately homes in London but I don't think changing the whole list name and category system just for London is worth it.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:44, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Oh I totally agree, its just that the lead seems to include almost any house, suggesting that it is a list of "historic houses". Gareth E Kegg (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Guge[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for working out Zanda/Tholing village. Need some help with sorting out two other things. First, see History of Tibet which wl to Guge which is a lot like the article we've been working on, Purang-Guge kingdom. Second, in Tholing Monastery, there are some photos of a White Temple, but we don't mention a white temple/chapel, etc. in the article itself, and I think we should, though I couldn't find any references to a "white" building at Tholing. Maybe you have access to some other sources? --Rosiestep (talk) 15:31, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeshe-Ö! --Rosiestep (talk) 16:34, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I have added to Yeshe-Ö, Zanda, Toling Monastery and fixed references to all tags in Purang-Guge kingdom. You may have to add some more text under History section of Yeshe-Ö to complete his history till his death. I will add some text to the article you have suggested tomorrow and then nominate. I am very tired now.--Nvvchar. 17:46, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes, it should/would if I had nomed them in one fell swoop, except that I did it the painful way... at 3 different times... each time kicking myself for not originally thinking it through with a multi hook. If you can change the nom title to include all four, please go for it! --Rosiestep (talk) 21:19, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Nomed Brasília National Park. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:10, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
I could hardly find any book or even sources to add to these articles Tesker, Metline and Douz even after half day's google search. Photo do look beautiful. I will upload only two imgs of the Bermuda cusine, which are good, shortly.--Nvvchar. 13:25, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Not bad, but that's a pretty standard C minor blues/jazz jam. Its D minor flat 5, G 7 aug 5, C minor 7 and the cool part is the D flat major 2-5-1 turn around E flat minor 9, A flat 13, D flat major 7, then up half a step to D minor 7 flat 5, G 7 aug etc and so on. I've got something against people playing jazz on a strat though! I guess it comes from me learning jazz on a strat, I prefer to see it played on some big ass vintage archtop! Benedetto guitars are my favourite, google image them. They're high end though and can cost over $15,000. Thank you for creating innumerable substantial missing articles, such as Musikhochschule Hannover, Johan van der Meer and John H. Dessauer, sometimes before I even ask - at least that's how it feels, - repeating: you are an awesome Wikipedian (18 March 2009, 9 May 2009)!

I can't believe that more than a year passed since you got the second award of what grew to be called Precious, here it comes again in br'erly style ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:46, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Alcatraz and Translations[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld,

I am glad that you liked the Danish Alcatraz translations. I have been on holiday for a month and first see your comment on my talk page now. The translations were meant as a big "Hail Blofeld!" since I am completely awed by your immense work for Wikipedia.

I have noticed your contributions on Denmark and matters Danish; if I can be of any assistance in that regard or if we could work together on something, please let me know (I am Danish). I also have good access to information on Greenland if that interests you. Perhaps a subject worth of some DYK's?

I have good editing experience on the Danish wikipedia but next to none on the English project.

Greetings! Glad you appreciate my work! You can find any which take you fancy in translating in User:Dr. Blofeld/DYK, from 1-400 to present, you'll find an eye-popping range of topics, but that's what keeps wikipedia interesting and above all broad and comprehensive. I'd love to see Tsarong or something in Danish, it's an old article though so you could probably improve it with more sources on Danish wikipedia. It would be great to have you working on here on Danish topics. User:Ipigott and one of two other editors work chiefly on Danish topics. Ipigott would love to hear from you I think, go ahead and contact him. Currently we're starting entries of the Danish Culture Canon, latest I did was Ved Vejen. Love Greenland, even have a GA on Sisimiut, Faroe Islands and any of the Danish islands in particular.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 21:42, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Arbir[edit]

It doesn't seem to be a very commonly used weapon, at all. Only three or four mentions in reliable sources online, barely any in forums and whatnot, and this suggests it's only used by one group. I am not sure it should have more then an entry in list of weapons, if that. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:00, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

I wasn't sure if it was a hoax, that book at least verifies it. Not exactly a kris though is it..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 23:03, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
I lost my interest in weapons after reading about the 7-11 being robbed with a Klingon sword-thingy. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 23:04, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • @Dr. No, it's not. Could it be a misspelling of something, or a pidgin? Halberd -> harber -> arbir comes to mind, although no sources for that. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:08, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
@Kiefer: Coulda been worse. Coulda been a laser pointer. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:08, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Current projects and stuff[edit]

Evening Dr B! Yes, I had a photo "session" in Crawley on Saturday, partly because I have some ideas for articles/lists relating to the town. List of places of worship in Crawley was due a revamp, deadlink-fixing etc, so that's the current bit of work. After that, I think I might overhaul Listed buildings in Crawley. Am also researching several new church lists. You may recall our collaboration on The George Hotel, Crawley ... sadly I couldn't get any new pics on Saturday, as the market was in full swing and all the stalls were blocking the view! Time to take a day off work and go up there during the week...! Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 23:04, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
