Dynamo Willow[edit]

Dynamo Willow (formerly FC Willow) are a 6-a-side football team who play in the bottom division of 'friday league' at Manadon Astroturf (aka aaaaastro), they are managed by Peter Chapman who took over 4 months after joining as a player. It is believed that they started in September 2008 continuing under the name of FC Willow, this proved to be a hinderance as the name was voted 'The gayest name ever' by gays everywhere. At the start of the 2009/10 season they changed their name to Dynamo Willow which has since helped to introduce a European flair into their gameplay. They are regarded as one of the greatest teams of all time, and have participated in some very memorable matches, including the 0-0 against Enter mi nan which was named 'Astro's greatest ever match' By well known pundit Derek, and their unforgettable 3-2 victory against Brookside which was their first win. Apart from their amazing playing style, Dynamo Willow are also known for their devoted fanbase, who will do anything to help the club, such fans are Matt Douch (firm leader), Jordan Yeo (money boy)and parental duo Karen and Dodger (cheerleading/coaching team), without people like this Willow would still be class, but nobody would be there to shout "Peter Chapman football genius" whence required (average of 5 times per game this season).

New Formation[edit]

After the departure of Collins and Maidment, Chapman decided it was time for a change in the way Willow played. Highly rating Kennedy's recent performances, and knowing the ability of King (should Kennedy fail to perform) he decided to give Kennedy the only set defensive role, With support from himself and new addition Furnivall who would act as support to attack and defence. Sticking with Yeo up front, he gave Sharpe a role involving movement, he would have to support attack and defence, with attack being the priority. Chapman based this formation on balance, which was something Willow often lacked previously, he also thought about each players role carefully, and these roles in turn, reflect the players. The system could be viewed as either 1-2-1-1, 3-1-1 or 1-3-1. Due to the attacking and defensive duties that chapman and Furnivall are required to carry out, the system has been hard to classify.

The Team[edit]

Adam King - Goalkeeper. Despite falling out with Chapman in an incident known by fans as 'the gloves off game' he has regained his place due to good performances in training and the unreliability of other goalkeepers. Although he is the shortest goalkeeper in the league, height is not the most important quality for a keeper in the 6-a-side game, his long balls are a constant threat and they are somewhat a trademark of his, along with his outbursts of anger.

James Kennedy - Everywhere. James is one of the few survivors of Chapmans clear out, which took place when Chapman became manager, he offloaded many players which made room for arrivals such as Maidment and Collins. James is the only player to have played in every position for Willow. Known for his Berbatov-like approach to the game he has proven to be effective in every position, but its believed he's at his best in defence or midfield. He is also known for his dedication to Willow, missing a total of 6 training sessions, a record beaten by only one person. With Collins and Maidment leaving the team, Chapman has expressed his faith in Kennedy by making him the key defender in Willow's new formation.James has suprisingly amazing goalkeeping ability He is also regarded by many fans as Dynamo's best goalkeeper but since these appraisals from fans James has since played down these appraisals by stating he believes himself he is the second best goalkeeper in the squad.

Peter Chapman - Manager/Midfield/Crazy Wing-Back. Chapman is believed by the fans to be "Willow personified" due to his dedication and willingness to die for the club, this spirit is one that fans wish to associate with Willow. Known for his work ethic and eye for a pass, Chapmans only flaw is his poor rate of finishing, although he has recently got his first goal for Willow making him invincible to critisism. He is a favourite with the fans and is admired by many professional players, this common phrase is used when Chapman is discussed "If Giggs, Beckham, Scholes and Keane's ability were mashed together and given long hair, it would be Peter Chapman". He has the records for 'Most appearences', 'Most assists' and 'Most training sessions attended'. Along with the less talked about 'Most likey to pass in a definate goal scoring opportunity'. His managerial ability went into question when he lost Maidment and Collins, but he changed the formation and brought in Shaun Furnivall, both decisions have gone down well with the fans, and have produced some of Willow's best ever form.

Shaun Furnivall - Crazy Wing-Back. His first Willow game came as a result of Sharpe and Maidment being unable to attend. He was scheduled to join Chapman in midfield as this was back when Willow still used the 2-2-1 formation. Complications occured when Yeo couldn't make it to aaaaaastro, meaning Furnivall would have to start in his less-prefered up front position, and on-site stand in Adam Winsor was set to play midfield. A tough game resulted in a 1-1 draw, with Furnivall grabbing Willow's goal. Shaun is viewed by many to be a more attack focussed version of Chapman, and he has scored a fair few goals in his short Willow career.

Adam Winsor - Midfield Cover. Winsor has been an on/off Willow player for a long time, with many questioning Chapmans decision to play him. However in recent times, providing he is used in the correct way, he has proven to be a very useful player. His most recent spell in the first team came when Sharpe suffered a broken thumb. Chapman saw Winsor as the opposite to Sharpe, but in a good way. Sharpe's game is about letting the ball do the work, whereas Winsor has stamina levels reminiscent of Chapmans. Firstly in this recent spell he occupied the 'Crazy Wing-Back' position, meaning Furnivall would push on into midfield. After an unimpressive performance Chapman opted to play him in Sharpe's role, as a complete contrast allowing Furnivall and Chapman to see more of the ball. Great results soon followed. Due to these impressive performances Chapman has decided to keep Winsor on, as permanent cover.

Connor Sharpe MBE - Midfield. Connor joined Willow after impressing Chapman in a trial. He has good technical ability and no doubt the mention of this will give him a semi. Origanaly signed as an attacking counterpart to Chapman, he plays well as a holding-type midfielder, when then allows Chapman to push forward. But with the new formation change, he has become the only 'real' midfielder, providing support to Yeo and to the defence. He holds the record for 'Goal from furthest back at aaastro' and has often scored from range, but has been critisised lately as he should have scored many goals by now. Chapman has stated his ok with this though, as Sharpe's work rate has increased to compensate.

Arran Yeo - Striker. Arran is known for his pace and ability to turn on the ball. He is one of the origanal members of willow along with Chapman and Kennedy but started off as a defender, in some strange Christopher Samba like scenario he became Willows striker and is their record scorer with a figure that is believe to be around 11 goals. He uses his physical defensive presence as an aid when holding off players and whilst studying the styles of Connor Sharpe and Dan Canham (Astro Allstars) he has added a skillful element to his game. Along with the award for 'Willows record scorer' he also has the award for 'Most likely to CBA'.

Notable former players[edit]

Chapman famously has an eye for talent, some of the players below have gone on to become established players in their own right, and would list Chapman as one of their influences.

Liam Fry (Now of Astro Allstars) He has since improved his game, and has changed position to a defender which was a good choice as his physical game is better than his technical game.

Lewis Collins (Now of Astro Allstars) He has had to remove the 'Right Wing Mode' tactic from his game, but this has not been a bad thing as he has helped Allstars to a better defensive record. His partnership with Fitzpatrick has been brilliant, but caused controversy as fans wish to see Fry playing.

Steven Davidson (Free Agent) Who knows what he's up to these days, rumour has it that he started a 5-a-side team with some Willow and Allstars players, but nothing substantial supports this.

Martin Lynch (Now of K Football Club) He was a member of the often doubted 5-a-side team made by his life long friend Steve Davidson.

Peter Watson (Now of Army apparently) Often regarded as Willows worst player of all time, Watson will always be remembered as having Willows 6th ever best left foot, and Willows brightest hair.

Tom, lynchys uncle or something (Whereabouts unknown) After his embarrassing debut, it's said he hasn't touched a football since.

Harri Jones (Honicknowle baah) Harri came in for one game as a possible replacement for King during his absence, he was very impressive but expressed ambitions of playing outfield, subsequently he was dropped.

Jack Maidment (Now of Astro Allstars) Maidment made the difficult switch from defender to goalkeeper, and has been solid, along with Collins helping to improve Allstars defence. His ability to command the defence has helped him in this role, as it did when he played outfield.

Controversy[edit]

Many contreversal happenings have occured during Willow games, the most memorable was against Brookside when ex-Willow rock Jack Maidment was headbutted Zidane style, by a frustrated member of the opposition, who clearly couldn't get past the wall-like Maidment. A similar incident occured against Hymec Rejects when Lewis Collins had massive guy (at least 10ft) on a leash, massive guy was then overpowered and called for a foul, words were exchanged and and them some hands and elbows and this resulted in a hatred between the 2 players. Peter Chapman was also sin binned unjustly by the famously bias 'Chin ref' as a result of frustration Chapman threw the ball to the opposition after taking a roll in to0 far forward, as we all know balls are deadly weapons and because Chapman threw the ball to the player at a superhuman pace he was punished.

Youth System[edit]

Willow's youth academy is known for producing high quality players such as first team stars Peter Chapman, James Kennedy and Arran yeo. But they have a great batch of youths who have been bigged up by many of the games experts. John Motson has said "some of those players are great, Peter Chapman has been a great role model for them" and Steve Bruce has said "Amongst those players there may be another Yeo or Kennedy but Chapman can't be matched". These hyped youths are:

Steven Chapman - Understudy to older brother and genius Peter, he has a great left foot, of which Peter claims is the best left foot he's seen in a Willow shirt. It's said he's the long lost son of Roy Hodgeson and is dubbed 'The English Andy Reid'

Ricky Wagner - Wagner is a great physical presence on the pitch, with blistering pace and ungodly strength, he has two great defenders to look up to in former Willow defensive duo, Jack Maidment and Lewis Collins. Although Wagner is of the Willow youth academy, he has played for Astro Allstars as an emergency loan signing, this was over-looked by the FA.

Rhys Griffiths - Rhys is the total package of a player, but is maybe lacking in the physical side of the game. He is similar to Peter Chapman but he is like a diluted version, with a better shot. Many say he's the best player to ever be called Rhys, Rhys Murphy of Arsenal disagrees.

Media Speculation[edit]

Dynamo Willow have been linked with many players in the past, some of these are very successful players elsewhere. A few examples are: Daniel Rowe who currently plays for Willows main rivals Astro Allstars. Chapman was linked with Rowe for ages when Rowe was a free agent, but this speculation was never followed up. Richard Westcott of Torquay United was linked with a loan deal to Willow but Chapman felt his squad had sufficient depth. Adam Fitzpatrick was another big name linked with Willow, but due to his alcoholic past Chapman didn't follow through. Fitzpatrick is now playing for Astro Allstars. Other players include Dilan Cox, Cool James and Daryll from D&A.

Rivals[edit]

The main rival club of Dynamo Willow are Astro Allstars, considered by many to be the B-team of Willow they have many ex-Willow players and some players linked with Willow in the past. They managed to beat Willow 2-1 in a game known as 'The greatest fluke ever' but this was only a fork in the road for the everstrong Willow, who overlooked this and continued with heads high. Also K Football Club are considered to be rivals as they are also local, Although both KFC and Willow were around last season, the two teams are yet to play each other, this game is highly anticipated by fans.
