Tom Copson (born 2 June 1986) is an English singer-songwriter, musician and performer of acoustic music who is an independent artist, released his first live album in 2009 followed by his first album Woven on 4th June, 2012.

Copson was raised in Cambridge, England and began his musical career by the age 16 years old, playing guitar and composing. His first experiences was as a part of a group called Eske. After leaving the band he developed his career busking throughout England and Europe and finding his own sound.

Career

Tom has supported many well known acts such as Jose Gonzalez, Scott Matthews, and The Editors. In the spring of 2009 Tom self released his first solo material in the form of an EP entitled ‘Will my soul still make it home?’

His first release since securing a deal with UK based independent label, Chiwawa records, is a live acoustic EP which was recorded in his musical home town of Cambridge named as “Tom Copson – Live at CB2”. This record showcases the development of Tom’s songs into a better rounded sound.

First Album - Woven

Tom’s debut album “Woven” will be release on 4th June, 2012. Tom Robinson from BBC Introducing recently played the opening track ‘Afraid to fall’ twice on his 6music show [1], as well as selecting it to be played as his 6music selector track on BBC Scotland. He described the song as “Wonderful stuff! And in regards to the album stated “I for one can’t to wait to hear it!”

He worked with producer Stu Reid (Duran Duran, Joyzipper, Killa Kela) accompanied by a band made up of their friends and family, and set about recording the album in churches. The album process was finished at the beginning of the year with ear master [[Mike Marsh at the Exchange in London, and its widespread positive anticipation has already secured slots at this summer’s festivals with Secret Garden Party, Standon Calling, and Hop Farm among them.
