He sang Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 on his first solo during hollywood week wreaking comments like "You have no spark" by Simon Cowell. He struggled during hollywood group week together with Mary Powers saying he was a weakest link in the group. During the 2nd solo of hollywood week he sang, I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, a song he has been strumming for a long time.
During the top 24, billboard top 100 hits, he sang Wonderful World by James Morrison where Ellen DeGeneres called him an "unripe banana". He garnered much praise from the judge's though, when he sang a version of Everybody Knows by John Legend, saying he was much more comfortable and confident now than a week before. During the top 16, he sang Trouble by Ray LaMontagne, where he, once again gained praise from the judge's but was eliminated the day after.
