Egon Friedell	21 January 1878	Austrian	Writer, cultural historian and actor.	16 March 1938	After the arrival of two SA officers to arrest him at his home in Vienna, Friedell committed suicide by jumping out of a window.
Joachim Gottschalk	10 April 1904	German	Film star.	6 November 1941	Gottschalk and his wife, Meta Wolff, committed suicide using gas with their son just before the arrival of the Gestapo at their Berlin home. Gottschalk was told he would have to separate from his wife who was Jewish and their half-Jewish son. He refused.
Max Jacob	12 July 1876	French	Poet, painter and novelist.	5 March 1944	Jacob, a Jew, died from pneumonia in the Drancy deportation camp while awaiting deportation to a German concentration camp.
Stanisław Saks	30 December 1897	Polish	Mathematician.	23 November 1942	Executed by the Gestapo in Warsaw after his arrest for activities with the Polish underground.
Jura Soyfer	8 December 1912	Ukrainian	Journalist and cabaret writer.	15/16 February 1939	Died of typhus in Buchenwald concentration camp where he was imprisoned as a political prisoner.
