Kirkpatrick Chapel[edit]

I reviewed the article, and it looks good. I have three suggested changes.

(1) Add alt captions to all the pictures.
(2) Wikipedia has an inflation template that many articles use to calculate the real value of money from a particular year. Template:Inflation.
(3) The word flow is a bit stilted in the lead sentence. I think you could remove known as Kirkpatrick Chapel and just refer to it by the shorter name in subsequent sentences. I might replace Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey with Rutgers University. If someone hits the link for Rutgers, they'll see the full name. I would add is before located, and replace New Jersey in the United States. with New Jersey, United States. DavidinNJ (talk) 21:20, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

I'll try to give the article a look-over sometime this weekend as well. At a glance, it looks like you've done a great job. Neelix (talk) 06:13, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
I apologize for taking longer than expected to get around to this review. Overall, this looks like a great article. Here are my recommendations:
  1. The "History" section should not end with the chapel's construction; the history should run right up until the present. This issue might be rectified by merging the "Use" section into the "History" section.
  2. The events listed in the "Notable events" section would flow better with the rest of the article if they were presented paragraphically. Also, the word "notable" is superfluous as only notable information should be included in any Wikipedia article.
  3. The year spans should appear in the body text of the "Use" subsections rather than in the subsection titles.
  4. The statement that "The chapel is available to students, alumni, and faculty of all faiths, and a variety of services are held throughout the academic term" appears in the lead, but I cannot find it in the body of the article and I therefore do not see the source for this statement.
  5. Is there any reason that the Reformed Church in America link is pipelinked with the phrase "Dutch Reformed faith"? There is a difference between the Reformed Church in America and the Dutch Reformed Church, and both refer to themselves as churches rather than faiths.
  6. I second David's recommendation above that alt text should be added to the images.
  7. Paragraphs should consist of more than one sentence each.
I look forward to seeing this article up at FAC. Please let me know when you initiate the candidacy. Neelix (talk) 03:26, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Main Page appearance: Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on January 21, 2014. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask Bencherlite (talk · contribs). You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 21, 2014. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno

The Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey is an elected constitutional officer in the executive branch of the state government of New Jersey in the United States. The person elected to this position is the second highest-ranking official in the state government. Before 2010, New Jersey was one of a few U.S. states that did not have a lieutenant governor. Two men were appointed to the office during brief periods in New Jersey's colonial era (1664–1776), but for most the state's history, the senate president would become "acting governor" during vacancies in the governor's office. After the resignations of Governors Christine Todd Whitman in 2001 and Jim McGreevey in 2004, the state had several acting governors in the span of a few years. Popular sentiment and political pressure from the state's residents and news media outlets sought a better rule for gubernatorial succession. In a referendum, the state's voters authorized a 2006 amendment of the State Constitution to create the position. In the 2009 gubernatorial election, voters elected Republican Kim Guadagno (pictured) to be the first to serve in the post in its modern form. (Full article...)

  • Thanks, Gerda. I'm surprised so far how little vandalism the article's received...given that the governor and lt. governor are involved in a political scandal, and today they're getting inaugurated for their second term.--ColonelHenry (talk) 07:27, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

GAR possibly of interest[edit]

As someone who took an interest in Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Four Freedoms (Norman Rockwell)/archive2, you may have an interest in Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Freedom from Want (painting)/1‎. Eventually, I plan to pursue a WP:GTC or WP:FTC, but one of the articles in the set is currently controversial.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 07:31, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

  • @TonyTheTiger: - I rarely find myself at GAR, so I have to review the process. But I'll see what I can do within the next few days. Is there a hard deadline on this?...like if I can't get to it until Monday or Tuesday, would that be a problem?--ColonelHenry (talk) 07:46, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
  • This continues to drag on and may for another month or two (The oldest discussion in the WP:GAR queue started on November 2 and this one started on January 12. Thus, it will be 10 weeks before this unresolved discussion is as old as the oldest current discussion.). If you could take a look that would be great.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:56, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

"A Song for Simeon" TFA[edit]

Congrats on the mainpage appearance of "A Song for Simeon"!

While I'm here, I've got a favour to ask—if you put your support in a header rather than in the body of your comments at FAC (as with Gods' Man), it doesn't show up as a support in the nominations viewer. It ultimately doesn't make a difference—the decision to promote or archive doesn't depend on the numbers the nominations viewer reports, but it sure is satisfying to a nominee to see those numbers. Face-smile.svg Would you mind sticking your support somewhere in the body of your comment? Curly Turkey (gobble) 00:57, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

  • @Curly Turkey: - I didn't even know about the nominations viewer until your comment above. Let me take a look at that after I get back on Monday night (I'm travelling this weekend).--ColonelHenry (talk) 06:07, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

CSD[edit]

I am quite puzzled why you blanked Vijay Singh, Defence Secretary and placed a speedy tag on it as an article intended only to disparage the subject? I just don't see that. I did remove one paragraph of peripheral interest that might possibly be controversial with respect to another person, even tho sourced. DGG ( talk ) 05:27, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

  • @DGG: - I didn't blank it (if I did, I didn't realize I did). I just tagged it for CSD because the article stated "with no background of national defense or security, was appointed Defense Secretary" sounds like a political attack from where I read it.--ColonelHenry (talk) 05:34, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
well, factually he didn't. that's not unusual for government ministers.-- I'll fix the wording, though, and in one other place also. . It is of course possible to guess the political motivation for including this particular person when we had missed him earlier; I did go and remind the editor to be careful. As for the blanking, probable article curation does that automatically for G10s, which is not all that unreasonable a default. DGG ( talk ) 06:23, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Peer review of Anatomical terms of motion[edit]

Hello ColonelHenry! We met when reviewing your now-FA, Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey. I'm primarily an editor of medical and human anatomy articles, and I was wondering if you'd be able to contribute to a peer review of Anatomical terms of motion, which I hope to eventually get to GA status. We (WP:ANATOMY) currently have three articles about anatomical terminology (five in total when I finish rolling out two others), which are amongst our most popular articles, and I hope that if we are able to get the terms of motion article to GA, it may be used as a template for the other articles.

I'd be very grateful if you could have a look and let me know what you think -- it's not up to GA standards yet (has tags and citations), but I'm most concerned whether the layout is suitable and text is readable and understandable. Kind regards, --LT910001 (talk) 02:19, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

  • @LT910001: - Let me take a look at this weekend (most likely this evening) and see what I can do. I grew up reading medical journals and textbooks that my mother had around the house, so I have a little bit of knowledge of anatomy and physiology. • Yes it was in conjunction with another purpose, I was there about 20 minutes, tried to get one of the staff members to be in a photo too but they were photo-shy.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 21:51, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
  • @Tomwsulcer: - The employees tend to be...some of them are current students. The director refused to share any photos with me when I asked them a few months ago, they're very reluctant to raise their profile. When you get the chance, see how I integrated most of the photos at Geology Hall.--ColonelHenry (talk) 22:56, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Nice work at Geology Hall. One thing I noticed about the museum -- few signs at street level announcing it; I walked into what I thought was a classroom building, and even there it was downplayed, almost as if the museum does not want the traffic or publicity, rather they like it quiet.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 11:54, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Good work on the Das Lied page ColonelHenry. I put a new edit in, and messed up your formatting rather. I couldn't work out how to get BOTH 1) the two colums to be of identical widths from top to bottom AND 2) keep the '==='s working as TOC links. Do you have the skills to fix this?

The English (if you can call it that) text is my own. I didn't want to fall foul of copyright claims, so I did the job myself. Obviously my hope is that other wikipedians will be able to fix my more egregious balls-ups, or that they may even be able to source a decent translation that is out of copyright.

Can I ask you to take a look at my FAC?[edit]

Hello, I'm a bit new to the FAC process (and did also see your note re: busy IRL) so excuse if I'm being presumptuous. The thing is, I have a FAC that's been languishing a bit since last month, and am becoming genuinely concerned it'll fail for lack of support. Would you be able to take a quick look? Not asking for support per se, just feedback. Thanking you much in advance for any help you can provide, Shoebox2 talk 14:57, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

  • @Shoebox2: - I'll take a look within the next two days. It has only been on FAC for just over 3 weeks, so you probably have another 3-4 weeks before the process ends. I usually avoid doing TV/PopCulture FACs because (a) I am not really into TV or Pop Culture and (b) it's not an area I really feel comfortable reviewing. But I'll see what I can do. I would ask if you would consider doing the same for either of my two similarly languishing FACs (Finn M. W. Caspersen and Geology Hall).--ColonelHenry (talk) 15:03, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, that's greatly appreciated. I'll absolutely take a look at your FACs as well -- as I say, I'm not very experienced with the process, but would be happy to provide any input I can. Shoebox2 talk 17:20, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Thickening the plot[edit]

Saw your work on Finn M. W. Caspersen, tailing your edit to the USEF article. Noticed he married into the Morris clan. Are you any good at family research? Wondering if his wife was related to US Equestrian team member and later coach, George H. Morris, who is of Caspersen's generation and is a major player in the equestrian world, considered the all-but-god of Hunt Seat riding and show jumping. He's also HQ in New Jersey and (I have met him) clearly born with a silver spoon in his mouth (lots of jokes in horse land about how GHM thinks he IS god...). Any way to dig into that? (I have a minor side hobby of liking to find out where horse people get the money to have horses; often rather interesting stories come out of it). Montanabw(talk) 22:00, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Other thoughts and projects[edit]

Speaking of literary sorts, have you ever thought about working on Wilfrid Scawen Blunt? If so, ping me, I have Lady Wentworth's book as well as Lady Anne's Bedouin Tribes of the Euphrates. Would enjoy collaboration about that character, but not to tackle solo. Montanabw(talk) 22:35, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

  • @Montanabw: - Looks like my kind of character--poetry, foreign affairs, the desert, living on the edge of mischief--a combination I can love. Let me take a look into what I can find. It looks like an interesting subject for collaboration.--ColonelHenry (talk) 22:49, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Ah indeed, and a world-class scoundrel and rogue, to boot! He crossed many paths. His wife, Lady Anne, was the daughter of Ada Lovelace and hence a granddaughter of Lord Byron, but it was Blunt who took on the Byronesque life and attitude for his generation; wouldn't think marrying into a family would do that, LOL! Montanabw(talk) 20:48, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

It is a pleasure to add the little I am able to to the fine work you do. Have you seen the copy of Riley's Little Gidding thesis. You can download for free one (and only one) complete pdf copy from the University's Online Institutional website. The Good Old Way by Riley. This is as faras I can go since I've already downloaded a copy. You can look at and download it by section or the whole document (which is what I recommend so you don't have to go back and forth between sections.)

Here is a link to a Little Gidding bibliography which is no longer on the Internet: Little Gidding and NF bibliography

I hope this helps!

Belated thanks[edit]

Hands4 Overlaying.jpg

I know this is terribly late but I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your participation at my RfA. While you did not support my nomination, I still appreciated your participation in the process. I look forward to the opportunity to work together in the days to come. Best wishes, --KeithbobTalk 19:37, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

  • @Keithbob: - I couldn't support you this time around, but if you do consider another RfA, I'll be glad to reevaluate my stance if I see that the COI issue is properly resolved. I thought the COI issues and TM behaviour was highly inappropriate.--ColonelHenry (talk) 19:52, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

My TFAR is up[edit]

I think it was you who said to ping you when I put up Oxbow (horse) to be TFA on Preakness day. I put it up at WP:TFAR so ping, ping, ping! Montanabw(talk) 00:32, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

A mushroom for you[edit]

Bencherlite - aww, you sent me a poisonous one. :) --ColonelHenry (talk) 02:29, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Don't eat it all at once, then... BencherliteTalk 02:34, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Bencherlite -- I noticed that you followed my FA at TFA (21JAN14) with a mushroom today (22JAN14). The Russians seeing a coincidence like that would say "Nye sluchaino"...it is not an accident. I'm tempted to agree with the Russian wisdom. lol. --ColonelHenry (talk) 02:38, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Now you've given me an idea - every TFA of yours will be followed by a mushroom... mwah-ha-ha... BencherliteTalk 02:47, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Bencherlite - I think I can thwart your Dr.Evil-esque ambition by getting Dent corn up to FA status...no way you'd follow corn with a 'shroom. --ColonelHenry (talk) 02:51, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
  • No, I'd get in there first with a 'shroom then veto dent corn as too similar in subject matter (oppose - two disgusting things to eat back-to-back) BencherliteTalk 02:58, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

For all your recent and ongoing work with WP:POETRY, particularly the project page and timely responses to recent inquiries on the talk page. It is appreciated. --Midnightdreary (talk) 21:33, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Congrats to Caspersen FA! A poetry question: could you look at Herzlich lieb hab ich dich, o Herr and say a few words about the rhyme and meter, - I lack the terms. 10 lines, bar form, AAB AAB CCEEFF? (stanza 3, the one I know best, from singing) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Ping as you are able[edit]

Hey ColonelHenry, I think you are the only reviewer who has yet to wrap up your review at my FAC for Mucho Macho Man, I think everyone else caught all the nitpicky stuff, but I would value your input - I'm rather hoping to get it approved before the wikicup round is over (otherwise I'm probably going to be out of the iwkicup, phooey). No worries if you have more critical matters to deal with, but just a ping if you are looking for something relatively easy to do. Montanabw(talk) 18:39, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

  • @Montanabw: - I'll finish it up tonight. Sorry for the delay. I'll email you later on when I get it done.--ColonelHenry (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
    • You are a wonderful human being! Thank you! Montanabw(talk) 18:44, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
      • I'm a barely functional drunk--you give me too much credit. But I'll take the compliment :) --ColonelHenry (talk) 18:48, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

What next?[edit]

Yes, sir, Colonel Henry. Regarding your tag on Metanoia (theology), this World War II enlisted veteran readily admits to an overuse of “mistranslation,” and I have removed most of them. You also say that the “article may require cleanup.” Wikipedia forbids use of the OR material I developed for lectures in my teaching years. So, following Wikipedia procedures, I gathered published material before choosing writing style: (1) essay-style writing as I did in St Augustine's College, Canterbury and St Augustine's Abbey or (2) a news-report-style organized to inform readers what authorities say about metanoia and its theological use. I tried to do the second with as much clarity and conciseness and as little theological jargon as I was able. Please tell me more specifically what needs to be done. Or, perhaps, the best way is to leave the tag (many articles have them) and hope that “somebody” will work on the article? Vejlefjord (talk) 17:26, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Precious and missed

A year ago, you were the 465th recipient of my PumpkinSky Prize. Thank you also for Remember not, Lord, our offences (filling a red link I created but probably without knowing), for your fight for the work's right title, for the pleasure I had translating it yesterday, for the GA review of my dearest article, for making my day by adding an infobox to TFA (your own), - "and be not angry with us for ever", nuff said, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:46, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

List of colleges and universities in Delaware[edit]

Hey Colonel Henry! I wanted to touch base with you regarding your open-ended review at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of colleges and universities in Delaware/archive2. It looks like this may be holding up the list's passage to FL status since you neither supported or opposed its passage to FL status following my incorporation of your initial comments. If you're unable to complete the review, which I definitely understand and would not begrudge you, please indicate as much on the FLC page. Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication to Wikipedia, and for reviewing this and previous articles of mine. I appreciate all your contributions, and definitely understand how it is when one is busy! Take care! -- Caponer (talk) 11:43, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Ah, I see! Well thank you for your support, and I hope everything gets worked out soon. -- Caponer (talk) 00:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Corrections file[edit]

  • @Epicgenius: @Go Phightins!: - regarding Wallace R. Wirths, the AP article is not fake, it is referenced here at this data-mining site from a Boston paper (on whose site it is no longer).[2]. I mentioned I would be glad to help if anyone has questions or doubts, just need to be asked. Jumping to conclusions doesn't serve anyone, and if asked you might be pleasantly surprised by the answer.--ColonelHenry (talk) 01:20, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
    • (edit conflict)x4 I see. Thanks. I'll re-add it, as it looks legit. I can't find the original source, though—do you have it archived? Epicgenius (talk) 01:25, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
      • It looks like the Boston Globe, I do not have it archived, sadly.--ColonelHenry (talk) 01:28, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
