Wikipedia-applicable food for thought: "...bear in mind that majorities, especially respectable ones, are nine times out of ten in the wrong; and that if you see man or boy striving earnestly on the weak side, however wrong-headed or blundering he may be, you are not to go and join the cry against him. If you can't join him and help him, and make him wiser, at any rate remember that he has found something in the world which he will fight and suffer for..." – Thomas Hughes in Tom Brown's Schooldays
Hi, I'm Ben (aka User:Go Phightins!), and I have been editing Wikipedia for over three years now, and recently became an administrator thanks to the community's gracious support (read the escapades here). I am beginning to dabble in WP:AFD, WP:AIV, and WP:CSD with the tools, having previously been active in those venues without the tools. Also, I am a founding member of the editor of the week project. I am also willing to review candidates interested in adminship. My general criteria are listed here. I usually answer messages on my talk page in a timely fashion (24 hours or less). In article space, my interests include baseball, American football (players and games), and politics, plus an inclination to help out on current events to avoid rushing to any conclusions. As a new administrator, fellow administrators are more than welcome to revert any of my admin actions, but please do explain why on my talk page. My unofficial admin mentors are Drmies, Dennis Brown, and TParis, and their respective talk page stalkers. As always, if I make a mistake in article space or another area, anyone may revert and then drop me a note explaining why. I am more than open to discussion on any topic.
Note: The account Phightins is Goneis a legitimate sockpuppet of me to be used when and if I am on the road, at an alternate computer, want to test something, etc. If it is ever acting strangely, please block it and let me know on my normal talk page why. Note: the account does not have admin privileges. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then someone really flattered me, when they created this account. Anyway, Thanks. GoPhightins!
Congrats to Go Phightins! as we award this Standard Triple Crown for great work on improving content on Wikipedia. Well done. → Call meHahc21 20:38, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

The Barnstar of Good Humor
For a particularly self-aware message that brought a smile to my face :). I'm not permitted to judge anyone for not liking change - I work for the Foundation and I do so using Monobook ;p. Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 10:09, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

The John Farrell doesn't want you to have pie barnstar
I told you last night that I would give you a pie if John Farrell's page wasn't protected when I got back this afternoon. Well, it is, so I'm afraid you'll have to settle for what may be the most bizarre barnstar of all-time. AutomaticStrikeout 19:05, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
For all the help and work on GAs and a bunch of other parts of Wikipedia. Batard0 (talk) 11:56, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thank you so much for all of your hard work in adopting me. I really learned a lot throughout the process (so much that I am now finally confident enough to run the Education Program course that we have in mind), and I also feel as though I now finally have an editor who I truly trust to go to if I ever have any additional questions. You did an absolutely fantastic job, and I hope that I lived up to your expectations! Jackson Peebles (talk) 04:13, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
The Helping Hand Barnstar
Wherever I go on Wikipedia, I always come across you helping other people. You make Wikipedia a better place and I think you deserve some more recognition for it. You are awesome! Cheers, — -dainomite 21:02, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
For being such a wonderful Wikipedian (and surprised you aren't an Admin, and thus my barnstar - for inspiration!) and helping out a lot!!! I hope you always continue to work here... BTW can you review this if you have the time??? Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Expeditionary Economics My first baby on WP and hopefully will go on to become an article... Don't bother if you don't have time... And before I forget HAPPY EASTER!!! The Wikimon (talk) 13:43, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for contacting Geoff. I suspect our emails to him crossed. FWIW, you have exactly the qualities we need in an admin. Let me know if you ever consider it.
Back in the day, there wasn't a WMF process for dealing with threats of violence and it was left to the community. There were only a small crew of us who would contact law enforcement. It takes courage like yours to keep this place safe.

Big Time Rush Barnstar
Here is a unique barnstar for helping me with Summer Break Tour. I tricked you into helping me. If you don't like Big Time Rush, too bad. Congratulations, you are now a Rusher (Big Time Rush fan) and you may outright display this on your user page. Thanks again for your help. ~~JHUbal27 01:33, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
The Content Creativity Barnstar
Well Phightins, you're doing really well out here. I wanted to leave a message of recognition for all the great GA work you do with Penn sport (and other) articles, and also something to say thanks for all the positive comments you gave at my RfA today. It's not hard for me to see you there yourself sometime, and I'll always be happy to nominate if you do. Rcsprinter(talk) @ 22:36, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

The Barnstar of Diligence
A collaborative environment also needs a willing, hardworking, and commited reviewer and you were just that. Through the multitudes of pings and talkbacks, you helped an article get to GA. I look forward to future works with you. Sportsguy17 (talk • contribs • sign) 02:22, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Buster7hereUnsuccessful - withdrawn by candidate, 56/33/6
I have nominated five candidates for adminship, only two of which have been successful. That said, I would have done it over again as those are candidates I would have strongly supported. My overall support/oppose/neutral for the five candidates combined is 249/86/39 (74.3% support).
If you've been watching me as I've given out the Golden Editor Award to various recipients, you might have known that it wouldn't be long before I got around to recognizing the merits of my best Wiki–friend playing favorites. Now, I could provide a sizable list of reasons for forcing you to accept this recognition. After all, you're a top–notch content creator, an active adopter and good influence on less experienced editors, a calm and level–headed voice of reason and just an all–around clueful member of the community (in other words, a clear net positive). However, I will not be mentioning any of that. See, I want to be a rogue admin someday and this is cabal practice, with today's drill on giving special favors. So, congratulations on the award. You earned it, but don't tell anyone. AutomaticStrikeout (₵) 16:51, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
