My name is Grant Lacher and I am an artist. I am originally from New York where I lived with my family on a small commune until I was about 8 years old when my family and I moved cross country to a small town in Northern California. I am currently enrolled at CSU Channel Islands in Camarillo, California where I am majoring in Liberal Studies with a concentration in graphic and conceptual design. I greatly enjoy drawing, writing, and singing.

People have said that I am a "natural born talent for drawing, painting, and writing."

After moving from New York to California in 1999, my father worked for a construction and carpentry business. Four years later, he started his own woodworking company where I was allowed to use a hammer, nails and glue. Eventually I was given permission to use one of the electric saws and from then on there'd be wooden swords, cars, and animals flying in every which direction. My father took notice of what I could do with the saw and hired me to cut out the curly brackets used to build his Victorian style screen doors. Since then I've been working with my father, who, in my own opinion, is quite a remarkable artist. Together we've built countless bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, and virtually entire homes. Once I graduated from high school, I moved to British Columbia, Canada where I spent my time going to the Vancouver Island School of Art and living on my own on Salt Spring Island. In Canada I was almost completely autonomous which allowed me to really learn about myself and grow as an artist. I've kept a notebook ever since the first few weeks of being there and flipping through the pages, I can see the changes I was making along the way. My art is always improving, my styles always evolving and expanding. I look forward to looking back at my artwork from today and seeing how far I've come since.
