I was born in 1980 on Christmas Day in Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Lexington, Massachusetts when I was 4. We moved to Acton, Massachusetts 6 months later and I lived there until I was 11. We moved to Blacksburg, Virginia in mid-June 1992. After high school graduation, I lived in Roanoke for a year, Richmond for a year, back to Blacksburg for 2½ more years, Boston for 6 months, Los Angeles for 1 year, Radford, VA for my final 2 years of undergraduate at RU, Tallahassee, FL for a year at FSU, Falls Church, Virginia for 8 months while working for Sirius XM, and back to Blacksburg in August 2009.
I spent all elementary school years at Gates School in Acton. After moving to Virginia in 1992, I spent one year at Blacksburg Middle School before transferring to North Cross School in Roanoke. I attended NC for 7th-10th grade before transferring back to the Blacksburg public school system for my final 2 years of high school. I got my associates degree from New River Community College in 2003, my bachelor of science degree from Radford University in 2007, and my Master's degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee in December 2008.
Before going to RU for my final 2 years of undergrad, I worked for Mediabase Music Research—owned by Premiere Radio Networks with parent ownership by Clear Channel Communications. I worked out of my home, as did all 120+ field staff employees, for my first five years with Mediabase before taking a newly-created position in the main offices, in Los Angeles, for my final year with the company. While attending RU, I worked for Cumulus Media in the New River Valley of Virginia, mostly but not exclusively for WBRW-FM 105.3 The Bear as a programming engineer and on-air talent. I also spent 2 years as the program director of WROV-FM and WJJS-FM, and weekday afternoon host on WROV-FM, from August 17, 2009 to July 1, 2011. I am currently employed at 1901 Group in Blacksburg, VA, as a Network Operations Analyst.
The user/screen name GregX102 comes from the name of a radio station I worked for in Fort Wayne, Indiana WXTW-FM Modern Rock X102 from 2000-2004. I used to use GregZ101, named for my former station in Roanoke, Virginia, but I switched to the X102 suffix a year later.
