Company history[edit]

Acorn Media UK sell home video products with a focus on British televison. The company was launched in 1997 by Acorn Media in America, formerly known as Atlas Video. Acorn U.S now form part of the Acorn Media group along with Acorn Media UK, Acorn Astralia and Acacia.

Acorn Media UK sell through their own direct mail catalogues, third-party retailers as well as through their website.


Acorn Media UK currently publish Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War, Trial and Retribution, Wild at Heart, Wainwright' Walks, George Gently and Waterloo Road. The majority of Acorn's titles are TV drama's, with a strong element of detective drama's such as The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Criminal Justice[[1]] and Taggart as well as special interest DVD's (Fred Dibnah's Steam collection) and period dramas (A Family at War). Acorn also buy the rights to sell a large number of other television shows on DVD. These include Sharpe[2], Prime Suspect and Rumpole of the Bailey.


The Acacia brand was launched from Acorn Media UK in 2006, incorporating healthy lifestyle titles and selling on the Acorn Website as well as in the Acorn Catalogue. The American branch of Acacia sell through its own Acacia catlogue as well.
