J. Chico Arenas, former shortstop ,Cuban Stars, of Negro Leagues, same family of Gilbert Arenas, NBA, Javier Arenas of NFL. Family patheriot, was Hipolito Arenas 1924 New York Cubans of Negro Leagues, his sons J. Chico , and Gilberto baseball minor leagues 1960's.Several professional sports players , and entertainer are members, of this Cuban-American four generations.

During this wonderful event I had the pleasure of meeting Chico Arenas, who played in the minor leagues and with the Indianapolis Clowns, in 1957, at the very end of the Negro League experience.

Dr. J. Arenas-Chico; former Cuban/Negro League Baseball Player, Juan Carlos; “JC” del Valle, Assistant VP for Government and Community Relations and Clarence Woods, executive director of the South East Overtown Park West Community 

I am pleased to announce that Dr. J. Arenas-Chico will be serving as our keynote speaker for our annual Fall South Florida Chapter Meeting. A former Negro League ballplayer, Dr. Arenas had a widely traveled career beginning with the Tampa Grays (1955-1956) in the Florida West Coast Negro League before concluding his career with the Tampa Lookouts in 1970. Along the way he also played for the 1956 Orlando Red Caps and New York Black Yankees, 1957 Cuban Stars, 1958 Jacksonville/Orlando Red Caps, 1959 Nippon Giants and Okinawa Falcons, 1960 Bismarck Partners, 1961 Panama Leones, in Brandon, Canada in 1962, and the Habana Hawks in 1969.
