Mixed martial arts record from Sherdog

Eddie Yagin (born March 23, 1979) is a Filipino American mixed martial artist from Hilo, Hawaii. He currently is signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as a featherweight.

Before signing with the UFC, Yagin was the Tachi Palace Fights Featherweight Champion, which was won in a victory over Joe Soto.

Mixed martial arts career[edit]

Yagin burst onto the regional MMA scene with an eight fight win streak before being submitted by Vitor Ribeiro. He then hit a rough patch by going winless in four fights, losing to Ribeiro, Joe Jordan, and Rich Clementi.

Tachi Palace Fights[edit]

After regaining confidence with a five fight win streak put together over three years, Yagin signed with Tachi Palace Fights and lost to Diego Saraiva. Saraiva cut Yagin below his left eye late in the first round, and by the second round he was spitting blood and breathing heavily. Finally, in the middle of the third round, the bout was stopped by the ringside doctor due to the initial cut. [1]

In his return bout over two years later, Yagin faced Joe Neri at a Gladiator Challenge event in San Jose and won by technical knockout due to elbow strikes early in the first round.

Three months later on August 5, 2011, he faced Joe Soto at Tachi Palace Fights 10 for the vacant featherweight belt. He staggered Soto early in the first round before locking up a standing guillotine choke when a dazed Soto struggled for a takedown.

Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]

On August 27, 2011, the UFC announced that Yagin had signed a multi-fight deal with the organization. He next bout is confirmed to be against Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist and UFC veteran Junior Assuncao at UFC 135 on September 24, 2011.
