James G. Meade, Ph.D. is an author, columnist, computer industry analyst, and consultant. In the eighties and nineties he was on the leading edge of two significant breakthroughs -- voicemail and PC-based computer graphics. He was a consultant to Lotus Development Corporation in educating the public about computer graphics and wrote the first book about Microsoft PowerPoint (a book that sold nearly 300,000 copies). In the voicemail industry, he worked with Digital Equipment Corporation and consulted with companies like Voicemail International and Voice Response (a part of Lee Industries in Iowa). His 30 book titles include works on Web-based programming, Web-based Help, and office products like Excel. He has been a columnist with Information Week, two other national publications, and two Web venues. He was the primary software reviewer for HR Magazine for more than a decade, and the reviews provided the basis for his book The Human Resources Software Handbook with John Wiley Publishing. His Ph.D. is in English from Northwestern University, where he graduated "With Distinguished Commendation," conferred by his dissertation director Harrison Hayford.
