Marketing Assistant[edit]

Duties/Responsibility[edit]

Responsible for promoting and driving the sales of a company’s goods or services. Must support the marketing department by carrying out the daily tasks to keep the department functioning and facilitate the duties of the marketing manager and account executives.

Tasks[edit]

  • Assisting the marketing manager and supporting the marketing team with marketing activities.
  • Assisting with the production of marketing materials and literature.
  • Coordinating the production of a wide range of marketing communications.
  • Providing support for marketing events and exhibitions as required.
  • Updating and maintaining the marketing department’s documentation and databases.
  • Managing events, booking venues and ordering marketing materials.
  • Writing articles and promotional material for the company.

Education[edit]

  • Must have a high school degree or GED. Though an associate’s degree is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree opens the possibility of promotion into a marketing manager. Bachelor’s degrees with a focus in marketing, communication, or administration are the most widely reported undergraduate degree held by marketing assistants.

Training[edit]

  • Must have at least one year experience in marketing, sales, or administrative.
  • Relevant paid or voluntary work experience is needed for this occupation – this can be gained in any commercial area that requires contact with customers or the general public (particularly sales and marketing).
  • Certification is not needed for this occupation.
