Max% 0xA

[edit]

In 2011, a group of TASers completed a max% 0xA run obtaining 20 stars.[1]

120

[edit]

In 2013, pannenkoek2012 began working on the 120-star A button challenge. By the end of 2013, Pannen single-handedly saved over 80 A presses. By late 2015, the A press count was lowered from 37 on V1.0 (38 on other versions) to 32 on VC, 33 on V1.0 & 34 on others

In 2022, the A press count was lowered from 19 to 14 via a trick called squish-cancel. In late 2023, a glitch called Mario's platform adventure or platform adventure (MPA) was used to bring Watch for Rolling Rocks from 0.5 to 0 A presses. This strategy was used to crash the game twice.[2][3]
