I have tried to expand on "Opera" in general, and footnote, so to speak, missing information.
I do not express any political or other "statements".
My comments are based on my 40 years of Opera-going in Chicago; London; Rome, and the Metropolitan Opera.
I cannot decide who is my favorite opera composer, since I enjoy everything from Gluck to Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, and early 20th century operas: Lulu; Doktor Faust, and Palestrina (Pfitzner). I am fluent in English, French, and some Italian; Latin and (have forgotten most of my )modern Greek. I travel to Europe on a regular basis, having spent 3 weeks in Greece; 3 (3-week) tours of France; two trips to Rome, and 5 weeks (total) in Venice, the most beautiful city on Earth.
