A Data Body is a virtual body/identity, described in Critical Art Ensemble's 1998 philosophy book Flesh Machine.[1],which is composed of a collection of digital files pertaining to (personal) information that is connected to an individual. Professor Steve Kurtz writes in Flesh Machine, the data body is a ‘fascist sibling’ of the virtual body. “(…) a much more highly developed virtual form, and one that exists in complete service to the corporate and police state.”
