User:MaynardClark is Maynard S. Clark of Boston. He fosters useful, worthwhile research and thoughtful understanding of key historic topics vital to the survival and well-being of human life and human society, and of nature in general - including clean, appropriate scale renewable energy; evidence-based whole foods plant-based vegan diets; and social mechanisms which promote, foster, and enhance mutually rewarding and establishing collaborations for the greater public (and private) good.

Many (including college and university Faculty) could be called 'perpetual students' and Maynard has that occupation, as have some (but not most) others in his family. Wikipedia allows him to re-engage many, many, many subjects constructively (and to cultivate a spirit of 'giving back' or 'paying forward' through Wikipedia efforts). He had spent nearly nine months researching and archiving the entire set of published writings of the late Professor Leon Eisenberg, MD, whom he had supported from 1999 through Dr. Eisenberg's death in mid-September 2009. He authored the Wikipedia page for Dr. Eisenberg (and numerous other Harvard Faculty). A nearly complete (missing about 14 journal articles, many in translation - in languages other than English) electronic archive of Eisenberg's writings and speeches will be available through the Center for the History of Medicine (CHOM) of the Countway Medical Library of Harvard Medical School. During the time of their working together, Eisenberg led a series of expert workshops for medical school Faculty members, course directors, and others in teaching the genetics of complex diseases across medical school curricula in each of the medical specialities and in its core curricula.[1]

He continues in the Department of Global Health and Population of the Harvard School of Public Health, now the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where until a few years ago he was Program Manager for the Ethical Issues in Global Health Research program run by Professor Richard A. Cash and Professor Dan Wikler. He now searches (with both ears to the ground) for a NEW career as a research administrator supporting and managing sponsored programs (grants and contracts). He also volunteers in community health and development programs in the nearby community, where he lives. He is both site manager for the weekly Fair Foods $2 Bag of produce distributions in his neighborhood and publicist and volunteer coordinator for a number of the other Fair Foods produce distribution sites, an effort which is so far fully consistent with his strong position as an ethical vegan.[2] He will eat eukaryotes such as fungi and plants, but neither animals nor their parts. Further, in his ethical vegan position, more than dietary description are conceptually (and intentionally) significant; compliance with ethical vegan diet is necessary but not sufficient to exemplify the values of his ethical vegan position (which is logically and morally prior to many popular ethical prescriptions, which his position describes as either fluff or undesirable). In addition, those who want to measure his practice by an objective standard of human personal health should first aggressively invest a majority of their own personal energy in abolishing the production of tobacco globally. Then they should join the temperance movement and abolish the production of alcoholic recreational beverages. Then they can measure the dietary contributions to any one individual's personal health. Otherwise, we're discussing population health statistically.

Maynard is known widely for community service - advocacy for animals (higher or 'sentient' animals) and community health. He is credited for founding the Boston Vegetarian Society, for helping to incorporate a number of nonprofit organizations, and for serving on numerous nonprofit boards of various sizes and capacities - national and international - to community-based or topical (vegetarian, vegan, animal rights, aging, gerontology, community health, small business, etc.).

At present, he serves on boards of community and residential corporations, and in the past has served on continental boards, regional medical service nonprofits, and vegetarian groups - both local and international. One MIT-based board is involved with implementing current thermophotovoltaics with a potential efficiency of about 80%.
