My major areas of interest are:
- Objectivism and related topics, including Ayn Rand, Leonard Peikoff, and the Ayn Rand Institute
- Cognitive science and related topics, including Steven Pinker, Aaron T. Beck, the Cognitive Science Society, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality, psychology, psychiatry, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, psychoactive drugs, psilocin, psilocybin, LSD, and cannabinoids
In 1971, Ayn Rand wrote, "As a science, psychology is barely making its first steps. It is still in the anteroom of science, in the stage of observing and gathering material from which a future science will come. This stage may be compared to the pre-Socratic period in philosophy; psychology has not yet found a Plato, let alone an Aristotle, to organize its material, systematize its problems and define its fundamental principles." I believe that cognitive science is this new field that Ayn Rand predicted would emerge out of psychology and that Steven Pinker could rightfully be considered its Aristotle.
