This era of literature begun in the late medieval period in the state of Vijayanagara (Hampi),currently located in the state of Karnataka ,India under the grate monarch Krishnadeva raya .Kannada a language of about 2500 years old ,hold its foundations .Purandara Dasa ,Kanakadasa are the primary blocks of these type of texts.Many other grate composers like Vijaya dasa,Gopala dasa have also contributed .

These manuscritps grew under the shade of vaishnnavism and are dedicated to Lord Vishnu.They also provide guidelines with respect to leading a spiritual life , mentions of karma and rebirth have also been made .
