Biography-Mortgage Industry[edit]

Early Career[edit]

Consistently recognized as one of America’s top loan originators, Barry has over 25 years experience in the mortgage industry. He began his career as a loan originator in 1986 and owned his own mortgage company by the early age of 27.

Barry averaged nearly $100 million dollars per year in individual production and is one of very few originators who have personally originated over $2 billion in individual loan production. Barry achieved these levels with only one assistant and by referral only.

After selling his company to Unity Bank in 1999, Barry was highly sought after by everyone from major news networks and large corporations to the independent mortgage professionals from across the country for his financial advice and proven ability to accurately identify market trends. Renowned for his skill at sales team training and talent for recruiting the best and brightest loan professionals in the country, Barry was hired as National Sales Trainer by two large mortgage companies, CTX and GMAC. Barry remained an active loan originator until 2007.

Mortgage Market Guide[edit]

Conscious of the absence in the industry of a reliable source of real-time market information for mortgage professionals who were tired of getting burned by interest rate re-pricing, Mr. Habib founded The Mortgage Market Guide in the spring of 2001. Born out of an elevator conversation with a friend, Mortgage Market Guide took the industry by storm. Barry knew that most loan officers, even seasoned professionals, have trouble understanding what truly drives interest rates, and often relied on false indicators to guess which direction the market was headed. Barry saw the need to provide loan professionals with information, interactive tools, proven strategies, expert advice, and customizable resources, all designed to help them more accurately anticipate market trends and react in time to help them protect their pipelines.

Because of his experience analyzing mortgage backed securities for over 20 years, Barry combined his deep understanding of the inter-workings of the industry, his knowledge of the bond market, traditional Western Technical Analysis with his expertise in analyzing Japanese Candlestick Charts (a 300 hundred year old amazingly accurate market indicator) to provide a membership service like no other available. His brilliance in conveying complicated and complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms is unchallenged. His ability to communicate these thoughts in a way that is easy for loan originators to explain to their clients and referral partners is unprecedented.

Today, The Mortgage Market Guide helps over 18,000 of America’s top originators monitor market conditions. Members receive a comprehensive series of daily market commentaries designed to help them stay on top of the market, such as the Daily Market Update, Instant Mortgage Re-Pricing Alerts, Bond Quotes, Japanese Candlestick Charts, Economic Reports, Daily Scripts, and many more exclusive resources, via email, voice broadcasts, conference calls, and website access. Members of Mortgage Market Guide have access to not only the wealth of Barry’s expertise, but a team of experienced industry professionals and analysts.

Due its overwhelming success, many companies started showing an interest in acquiring The Mortgage Market Guide. After a bidding war, United Communications Group (UCG), the nation’s leading provider of business information, tools and guidance for two million professionals worldwide, came out the winner, acquiring MMG in 2006.

The acquisition of MMG launched UCG into a new market for their information and training services – mortgage origination. And the transaction enabled MMG to leverage UCG’s 28 years of experience in product design and development, direct marketing, market analysis, content creation and enhancement, software solutions, and the development of trade shows and seminars to rapidly grow its core business. With access to UCG resources, Barry was able to build and expand MMG into the most successful and highly profitable best-in-breed company offering guidance and solutions for mortgage originators.

Mortgage Success Source[edit]

In 2008, Mr. Habib brought together The Mortgage Market Guide with two of the other mortgage industry information providers: LoanToolbox and The Duncan Group to form Mortgage Success Source (MSS). As Chairman of the Board, Barry is the driving force behind MSS.

Mortgage Success Source serves more than 30,000 of America's top mortgage loan originators with the training and money-making resources to help loan originators nationwide who are looking to achieve higher levels of success. To provide loan originators with the continual support needed to succeed in today's market, Barry rounded up the most solid performers nationwide to create the MSS Contributing Faculty, featuring acclaimed industry leaders and long-time colleagues of Barry, including David Fournier, Sue Woodard, Bill Bodnar, Greg Frost, Jim McMahan and an extended team of market experts.

With the creation of Mortgage Success Source, Barry realized his vision of bringing together the most powerful resources in the mortgage industry – including real-time information and analysis, sales training, marketing, and education tools – to give loan originators the competitive edge they need in a turbulent market. Barry answered the call of an industry to provide mortgage professionals with expert advice in unprecedented times and help them successfully navigate volatility.

Mortgage Success Source encapsulates the mission of Barry's life-work to help mortgage originators and leaders succeed in any market through the use of timely, relevant and valuable content. "Because when the market turns – and it will turn," says Barry, "there will be big rewards for those who stay in the business."
