Mr. Meeble

1. History

Mr. Meeble is a multi-genre band which was formed in late 2005 through the creative vision of Devin Fleenor in collaboration with song writer/ arranger Michael Plaster. Mr. Meebles major influences include Thom Yorne, Air, Lymbyc Systym, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin, It's founding member and creates the overall vision for the band Devin Fleenor whose contributions include programming, vocals, keyboards, guitars and bass. As a producer Devin also contributes videos, lasers, and live visuals for the band. Since the inception a variety of local Arizona musicians have entered, exited, and re-entered the band structure.

2005 saw original member Richard Lam contributing with guitar and turntables prior to his exit in 2006. Blain Klitze joined the band in 2007 providing drums, sound design, drum programming and motion graphics. Blain left the group in 2011 following the European tour. Riana started contributing back up vocals in 2008 and performed with the band for several live shows in 2009; rejoining the group in 2011 to accompany them on their European Tour. Rick Heins joined the band in 2009 playing experimental pedal steel.

Known for their media rich live shows, Mr. Meeble combines custom video projections, multiple RGB lasers, mouth lasers, and the Ghost portal to create a multi-sensory experience.Mr. Meeble released Non Assault Message Medium Enjoyment Maxi Single 2007 and followed up with Never Trust the Chinese in 2008. Never Trust the Chinese was re-released on a limited basis in 2009 and is being followed up by the bands newest release Nostalgic for Now in 2012. Mr. Meeble has played in several notable venues across Arizona including The Crescent Ballroom and The Sail Inn a Staple in the local Arizona music scene. With a large you-tube following of over twelve thousand subscribers; Mr. Meeble's video collection on youtube has received over half a million hits; with Mr. Meeble's "Until I Grasp The Second" having over one hundred thousand hits alone. In 2011 Mr. Meeble self booked a European tour that spanned seventeen countries.

Devin Fleenor[edit]

Devin Fleenor (March 21st, 1971) is an American born interactive artist, programmer, musician, activist and self-proclaimed "psychonaut". https://psychonautwiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

Devin is currently creating artificially intelligent art and researching the neuroregenerative effects of immersive experiences.

Early Life:

Devin Fleenor was born in Phoenix, AZ to a family of native Phoenicians – his Grandfather, H.T. Traylor being born in Phoenix in 1921.

As a small child, Devin was diagnosed with a genetic blood disorder. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IgG_deficiency)

When Devin was 7 years old, his grandparents bought him his first computer and enrolled him in programming classes. This was a pivotal moment where he began to use technology to express himself creatively.

He studied psychology at Arizona State University but dropped out of grad school to pursue musical ambitions. In 2005, Devin founded the experimental electronic music outfit Mr. Meeble with long time friend and composer Michael Plaster.

In fall of 2011, Devin organized and performed a 17 country, 9 week European tour with Mr. Meeble which was well received by the fans and press.

In 2010, Devin created the Facebook page "People Against Sheriff Joe Arpaio" which quickly accumulated over 112,000 members and was instrumental in the effort to elect a new Sheriff, which happened in November of 2016.

During the Super Bowl in 2015, Devin created an uncensored, unsanctioned Twitter projection feed on top of a warehouse in Super Bowl Central. Anyone tweeting with the hashtag #lasertwitter, could speak their mind – a near real-time digital sounding board in an otherwise corporately controlled landscape. [link]

From 2015 until present, Devin has been designing and researching S.E.E.D. [stellar emissions encapsulation device]. From the artist’s website:

“S.E.E.D. is an interactive new media art installation. An 8 foot cube of geometric lasers, video, reflections, sensors and sound, it provides its visitors an algorithmic exploration of time, the physical senses and layers of consciousness. The core of S.E.E.D. is a matrix of white lasers that are reflected and terminated with proprietary robotic mirrors that allow the creation of thousands of geometric shapes within the cube. S.E.E.D. resides in a dark, enclosed space and tracks activity with multiple motion sensors. With no movement, S.E.E.D. is nearly dormant. It springs to life in response to human activity: producing emotive sounds and intense geometric illuminations. The front surface of the cube is a simple haptic interface – with six points of a hexagon, the participant can use their hands to navigate diverse visual and musical landscapes.”
