The Soweto born rapper ICE-D found his love for hip hop at the age of 15 and it has been one way traffic ever since. Born on 12 June 1987 Benjamin Thuntsane Ngakane (a.k.a ICE-D) started rhyming in the streets and later got to be discovered by Timezone, who later became a member of his crew and personal friend. As in most things in life, ICE-D soared to the top 3 after joining the Crazy Edition (C.R.E).

He lost himself in the hip hop culture by battling every weekend against some of Soweto’s best (Scorpion, GS, Trouble) to name a few. He then went on to develop his overseas network of producers and fellow hip hop artists through #REDIRECT Yung Teephie to create numerous tracks with producer – Rudy, where he made his first official track called “AAAA GAWD”. Receiving a massive response without any formal marketing or advertising; ICE-D’s first single lead to numerous collaborations with international artists like Rhymyn Rhyght and producers such as #REDIRECT Teknodrome and DJ R. Capitalizing on the buzz, ICE-D then went on to do local collaborations with LOLO, Sporadic, Dat Kafa Bash, Botanix, #REDIRECT Storm K and Rome to create his 1st ever mix tape that is soon to be titled and released. In 2013, ICE-D officially started a rap group called #REDIRECT Krazy Ghetto Crew (#REDIRECT KGC) which consisted of the following members: ICE-D, #REDIRECT Yung Teephie, #REDIRECT Storm K, #REDIRECT Botanix and #REDIRECT El Vee.

With tracks such as “24”, “Push”, “It’s Gonna Be Alright” included in the mix tape, this is somewhat a reflection of his life experiences cleverly related to the common minds of teenagers and young rappers of today. Already creating hype around him, ICE-D never stops working on new ways to tell his stories through music and conceptualizing his tracks for the listener. The future looks bright as more and more artists are willing to collaborate with this upcoming artist
