Judizmendi swimming club

The Judizmendi swimming club is one of the swimming clubs from the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. It is the oldest team in the city and in 2010 was its 75th anniversary.

History

In 1935, coinciding with the opening of the first pool of Vitoria-Gasteiz, began the journey the Judizmendi Swimming Club, which is after the Deportivo Alavés and together with the Aurrera Vioria football team, the oldest sports club in Alava.
The club started to train in the outdoor pool of Judimendi,which was located between Olaguibel and Los Herrán streets and which nowadays does not exist. Then in 1959 the Estadio outdoor pool was built. Later in 1963 the indoor swimming pool located in San Prudencio street opened its doors for the club .The club trained here in winter from 1963 to 1976 while in summer trained in the new Estadio outdoor pool. Since 1976 the club has been training in the installations of the Fundación Estadio.
Although swimming has always been the main modality of the club throughout its history, has developed and practiced other sports disciplines, such as athletics, weightlifting, judo, wrestling, water polo and triathlon.
More than 50.000 swimmers have learnt how to swim in this club during the history thanks to all the coaches and monitors that have trained in the club.

Achievements

The swimmers of the Club has achieved many triumphs and reaped many successes in competitions in Alava,Basque country and also in National competitions. The club have even had some participation in International Championships.
