Owen1985 lives in Lubbock, Texas and is a high school teacher. He has undergraduate degrees and a Master's degree from the University of Wyoming. He is an avid runner, chess player, browser of Wikipedia, and has worked for eight summers at Philmont Scout Ranch, including four summers as a Ranger Department Coordinator (three as Service Academy Coordinator and one as Scheduling Coordinator). He is also a former cartoonist and creator of a comic strip that ran for four years at the University of Wyoming and four summers at Philmont Scout Ranch.

His interests include the locales of west Texas and the Texas panhandle, northern New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. He takes an interest in world history, politics, sociology, psychology, and philosophies of government.
