Pedro José Mantellini Villamizar (Energy Economic Advisor)[edit]


Pedro Mantellini[1] has over 34 years of experience in the energy industry, including 19 years in the Venezuelan oil industry ‘’’Petroleos de Venezuela –PDVSA’’’[2]. While in PDVSA, he held a number of senior positions including ‘’’Advisor of the Office of the Presidency and General Manager for External Technical Affairs’’’; General Manager for External Technical Affairs, General Manager of ‘’’CIED’’’, Corporate Strategic Planning Advisor, Business Development, also was special Advisor on Strategy Planning and Energy to the Presidency Office of PDVSA. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Development Theories from the CENDES-UCV (1998), a MBA from ‘’’Universidad Catolica Andres Bello’’’ (1996), and a Bachelor Science of Syracuse University (1979).

Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (CVG)[edit]

Mantellini also served as Managing Director of ‘’’Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana (CVG)’’’, Venezuela’s state- owned corporation for mining and hydro-power generation, and President of the Aluminum sector in Venezuela ‘’’CVG VENALUM’’’ and ‘’’CVG Bauxilum’’’ (2005-2006). For a number of years Mr. Mantellini lectured “Corporate Strategic Planning” at the Post Grade of “Hydrocarbon” at ‘’’Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV)’’’; Professor of “Economic Engineering” at the Scholl of Civil Engineer, ‘’’Universidad Santa Maria,’’’ and he is presently Visiting Lecturer at the ‘’’Florida International University’’’ and the ‘’’USAEE’’’.

Mantellini has several books written, among them: ‘’’The Water Crisis in the Middle East’’’ (1986); ’’’Mexico: Energy Economics’’’(1998); an Co-writer of the Book ‘’’KNOWN THE UNITED STATES - ENERGY ECONOMICS’’’, published by Citizens for Democracy and Downtown Book Center, Inc. June 15, 2009[3]

Political Career[edit]

Mantellini is former member of the Young National Buro of the Venezuelan Political Party ‘’’Accion Democratica’’’ working always with former ‘’’Venezuelan President Carlos Andres Perez’’’. Mantellini came to prominence in the second government of Rafael Caldera (1994-1999), when he was ‘’’President of the CVG Venalum and CVG Bauxilum’’’[4] Since the Government of Hugo Chávez, started in 1999, asylum applications soared to more than 1,400, in 2005, according to figures from the immigration courts. One of that case is that of former official of ‘’’Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA),’’’ Pedro Mantellini, whose asylum was accepted. Mantellini, open opposition to the current energy policy in Venezuela, warned of a fall of 40 percent of PDVSA production levels over the past eight years. Mantellini, a leading figure in the Venezuelan-American community, received from the USA Congress a ‘’’USA Congressional Recognition’’’ given on October 2011 for his Outstanding Services to the Community as an American Leader in South Florida[5] Nowadays Mantellini is Member of the USAEE. ‘’’USA Energy Economics’’’ since 1996 and Member of the International Committee of the 24th Annual ‘’’IAEE’’’ International Conference, [6] .
