Vienne indirectly elects two Senators. Currently, these are Alain Fouché, and Jean-Pierre Raffarin, both of whom are members of the UMP.

General Council of Vienne[edit]

The General Council of Vienne, which sits in Poitiers, is made up of 38 members, representing single-member wards, and elected by universal suffrage to six year terms[1]. The majority, of 20, is made up of 17 UMP councillors, and 3 Miscellaneous Right. Since March 2008, the President of the Council has been Claude Bertaud.
